I don't want to spoil my Bag Chatter write up but here are a few pics of the West Point Golf Course where I played this morning. Designed by Robert Trent Jones back in the 1940's.
Lots of elevated tee boxes, interesting layout and fairly short by today's standards (6050) , but surely not a cake walk either! VERY EASY to lose a lot of golf balls here. Absolutely best greens I have been on in quite sometime!

My daughter lives in Monroe, NY, very close by West Point. I'm going to visit here and her family soon. Is the course available to play to a non-serviceman or woman? If so, how could I get on?

Public tee times are available 3 days in advance. $41 greens fee weekday plus $12 for cart. Replays for cart cost only. Worth it.

Thanks! Are walk-ups available on shorter notice if the course isn't busy? I'm arriving tomorrow, and my son and his wife have arranged and paid for a tee time playing with them in NJ for Saturday already. I'm hoping that I could play there Friday.

I would think so, it wasn't all that busy today, call and ask though to be sure!

Wow, thanks for the walk down Memory Lane. Played it in college during a NCAA Div III tournament. I'll never forget it. Only course I ever saw Deer walking with me down the fair way. I barely remember the course, but I remember it was really good. The pics do bring back Memories. that was in 1987. Same week our team capt drove the team van 2 miles up hill with the park brake on. I'll never forget that too.

Another cool thing, but no pics, is the INDOOR natural grass (as in real) short game practice area they have for the USMA golf team.

fun course, used to play high school matches there when we played O'Neill High School. Never played the back nine but the front was fun. Remeber I was four under thru 7 once than tripled the eighth and shot one under.

You MOST DEFINITELY would NOT want to walk the back 9. The front is walkable but somewhat hilly.

First time I ever played golf was at that course as a cadet at West Point. It wasn't till a few years later that I actually picked up the game, but I was impressed by how beautiful and peaceful that course was... no major roads, no homes, just tucked away in the mountains.

I shot a 92 with 4 Lost golf balls (48-44). I birdied #17 as well. I really enjoyed this place.
Used my NIke Pro Combo Tours for the first time as well.
Lets play on Sunday, June the 29th at Blackheath in the morning.
