i'm new to tournament golf.... clapping.gif
i am playing what i thought would be a reputable tournament club.
i am currently playing to a 9 index.
am i wrong in thinking that it seems 8-12 h'cappers should probably not be shooting even par?
seems like almost every tourney (played from an average of 6500 yards) it takes even to win my flight.
personally i haven't ever broken 76 and i am wondering if the slide in the sport is due to...

"cheating"?

i hope to learn something from this discussion, but right now i understand why so many people don't play organized golf.

thanks for all responses

Welcome to the world of sandbagging.

Clubs and tours need to start fixing this NOW. The best solution I've heard is that tournament organizers need to adjust ones handicap for tournament purposes based on their finish. As suggested by Dean Knuth, www.popeofslope.com. If you come in first place, your handicap is reduced by 3 shots for the next tourney. More details on the site...

Or if this is at a club, I'd talk to the pro and ask him about it. If you've got guys that are 8-12s shooting even, they need to be moved up to the appropriate flight for the next tourney.
