I have been thinking about switching to playing without a glove and just curious to see what others are doing. Almost everyone I play with wears a glove.
zojo
i can't play without a glove, at least with my grips right now. I hit a shot once in my backyard, shanked it and almost broke a window. not doing that again...

clapping.gif try wearing pants bruh, it helps amazingly with that "naked feeling" cheesy.gif
Johnny
I can wear them out in 1 round back when I started golfing... told myself that was too expensive...so I never tried them again.
sergizmo
My hands sweat a lot so I pretty much need one. Thinking of going to cord grips in the future though and no glove is a possibility with these.
MGB
I play with a glove on long shots but take it off when i have a wedge in hand. Putt without one too.
Golfchicago
I cant play with cords because they are too hard on my hands so I have to wear a glove.

Like Tiger Woods, I have sweaty hands and absolutely can not hit full shots without a glove. Tiger carries 12 gloves in the bag a round. I alternate between 3 a round.
simmoboy
i cant play without a glove.

in summer it gets to hot and your hands sweet heaps and in winter it gets to cold to take it off.

i do take my glove of to hit chips and putt bucause you need maximum feel for those shots.
Big-Wiesy
I always wear one. I used to use the most expensive ones but I think they honestly are the worst. They only last about 2-3 rounds and don't feel nice either. So I use the Nike TechFeels, great gloves that are cheap! Ive had to same one for about 3 months now and I use it nearly every night, its amazing. I do take it off for chips and putts though.
cornbred19
don't wear them...i have bony hands and they dont' fit well...
MrBig
I have GP tour wrap full cords and when it was cooler I was strictly no glove. Too expensive and cord grips tear them up pretty quick. July in Miami is pretty hot and I sweat like a machine so I have had to pick a few gloves up recently. I never wear one for touch shots or putting, and I try to rotate gloves every few holes or so. I now classify rounds by how many towels its going to be. Is it a two towel day or three?

"What's my target?"

Sweaty palmers who don't want to wear a glove- try tite-grip. If you request samples, they will send out a few.

The stuff works pretty well. You just rub it into your hands for a bit, then it dries a little tacky, but keeps your hands from sweating too much throughout your round.

I usually use a glove for tee shots and long iron shots and the sunblock I use actually is a little tacky when it gets on my grips, so I haven't really used the tite-grip too often. The sunblock is banana boat 50 spf.
shoe295
I wear one for all shots except chips and putts. I too resemble a drowned rat when the weather gets hot (like all summer this year) so I carry at least 3 a round and remove it between shots. I have such short fingers tho that even cadets are too long which is a nuisance to which I'm accustomed. I find that they help with checking my grip, when my cord grips start scuffing the heel of the glove I'm holding the club too much in my palm. I need to remember to grasp it with my fingers instead which prevents that scuff from becoming a hole and leads to much better club control and greater distance.
ErichZF
With a glove my hand feels more secure on the club. It fills up all the little spaces between you fingers and grips.

Haven't worn a glove in more than 10 yrs. Much too expensive and uncomfortable in the heat as they get/got slimy, then dried stiff and unplyable. Use Tour Velvet or similar grips and ALWAYS carry a damp towel to clean my hands of sweat or suntan lotion. It also helps to periodically scrub the grips to keep them tacky and remove any accumulated grime and/or sweat. The reason for going gloveless initially was to increase feel and to reduce the "death grip" that I had on the clubs. Once I had realized that I could control the clubs on the practice range, I stopped wearing a glove during play.

Glove. Its hook city without one.
tishmonster
Can't ever wear a glove again. After not wearing a glove for some time I could never go back. I've tried and it feels real awkward and bulky. Only problem is these hot and humid days of summer down here in Atlanta.

cheesy.gif I live in Texas, dont talk about hot.

I was really broke a few years back and couldn't afford them and I will never go back now. I have so much more feel with out one, even with my driver and fairway woods. The second round out without a glove I socored my career best at the time, Shot a 75 and never broke 85 before than, now i shoot in the seventies and low eighties much more regularly. In warm weather i just carry a towel with me and dry my hands and grips before shots.
Goose
i use a glove but a thin glove the Titleist Players glove....i can actually play without a glove tho......When im playin in bad weather eg. rain...i will go without a glove bc i hate rain gloves...its easier to keep your hand s dry...tho the Nike dri-fit tour glove is excellent in all weather and i do use them in bad weather.
TM82
I'll always wear a glove when I play, only take it off for putts.

It's odd though how some of you cite that they're too expensive. In comparison to that $400 driver, that $100 pair of shoes, that $150 putter, or even that $40 box of Pro V1's, a $15 glove should be nothing.
phillypete
I decided not to wear a glove b/c i too got tired of shelling out money for gloves that wear out way too quick.
alk3
I wear a glove on drives, long shots, etc... but at around 100 yards I take it off.
BEND OF THE RIVER GC
I always use a glove unless i am putting...
kenfuji
i used to wear gloves when i first began playing, but i would always forget to take them off or put them back on after putting so I stopped wearing them. Also hate how you get the odd looking untaned left hand cheesy.gif "billy jean" and "beat it" is soooo 80's. plus not wearing a glove is just one less thing to worry about when playing golf. nothing a dry towel can't fix for sweaty palms and wet grips smile.gif
TheLastDon
I wear one with my driver, without glove on all other shots. I've tried going completely no glove but lose control of the driver without it. Never was comfortable wearing a glove, and only wear one when absolutely necessary. I'm also one of those people who sweat by the bucket, but even in the summer I try my damnest to keep hands dry so I dont have to put a glove on.
choeppner
Same here. I like using it for the driver, but find I hit myirons better when I don't use one.

no glove here... i started with one, but have since gone away from it...
dlygrisse
Cant play without one in any temp above 75*, my hands tend to perspire a lot. I wish I could, it would save alot of $$ over the years
cornbred19
i dont have the feel w/a glove that i get w/out it...not for me...

Quit wearing a glove at the beginning of 06. Will never go back to a glove. Love the feel and wonder what took so long. I use full cords without problems.
I keep a roll of medical tape ($4) in the bag and will put a wrap around my ring finger on my left hand if necessary. Usually when playing the day after a long range session.
Has also saved alot of money which takes the guilt of buying expensive balls.

No Glove, No Love.

I wear a glove on all sots except short chips, bunker shots and putts.

Used to play with a glove until one day this spring it was raining and my glove got all wet and slippery. Took it off, played great without and haven't used one since.

I did buy a rain glove just in case, but haven't used it yet biggrin.gif
ElGavilan
I haven't used a glove in years and can't see why I ever used one. I usually play with cord grips in the summer and never have a problem -- in fact I think cord grips are probably easier on my hands because they reduce slippage.

P.S.
When I switched to no glove several years ago, it did take me about three weeks to get used to it. My hands were sore at first. I paid attention to having a correct grip throughout the swing; I played better and my hands didn't hurt. Occasionally I will notice a little slight chafing at a couple of the pressure points -- it's easlily traceable to sloppiness with my grip -- and, when I correct it, back to no problems with no glove.
TheNatural72
I got tired of spending money on golf gloves. I havent used one all this year and dont think Ill ever buy another. I think the glove made me grip the club harder, but, maybe its just a mental thing. WHY do people take off their Glove to putt? I always left mine on.
Montrove
play with a Nike Elitefeel Black
DaveyH
In rain i dont use a glove.
When its dry i do for added comfort.
titleist players glove or wilson staff pro soft with club logo.
jkr
No Glove here, too expensive, been playing w/o for 20 years
DrSchteeve
I wear TWO gloves. I've never understand the rationale for one glove. I do get a lot of "So what's up with the two gloves?" I just say: "What's up with just one?"

I use rain gloves year round, except when it's really cold I'll use winter gloves. Rain gloves just grip better if you are sweaty or it's raining, and I just wet them if they don't seem to be gripping well. They also last a long time.

I don't take the gloves off to putt - too inconvenient (especially wearing two).
KDMullins
For me, playing without a glove would be like playing without one of my shoes on.
IROC pete
i golf too frequently to pass up using a glove. if i dont use a glove i get blisters because my crappy grips tear my hands up fool.gif I usually get around a month out of each glove (mostly footjoy) but every now and then i get more than that. I wear only 1 glove and dont take it off when i putt. i get alot of crap from the people i play with when i dont take it off but it doesnt matter as long as i make my putts.
RobotDoctor
I want to go without a glove but can't seem to get used to the feel. As it stands, I am a glove man.
parpar41
no glove, just like Freddy.
