So i picked up my TM TP Tour Burner today! But the golf shop guy searched all over for a "TP" version of the headcover ( Has "TP" on it)...assuming based on previous models that there was a headcover for my new Burner TP. He asks around and they tell him that TM no longer makes a headcover for the new TP versions...apparently due to theft. People have a tendancy to steal the TP clubs because the headcover alerts a potential theft artist that the club is a step up from the basic shelf club. Anyone else hear this? Is this B.S.? anyone else have a TP headcover for their Tour Burner? I dont care about other TM models, just the Burner Tour. Apparently this is a new thing for TM to do...help!

There is no TP headcover for the Tour Burner TP. It is exactly the same as the regular Tour Burner headcover. I haven't heard that they won't make TP headcovers anymore YET. But I didn't really expect to get a special headcover for a club without the TP badge on the toe, whether it's a TP or not.
It is true that the TP headcovers make stealing the more expensive TP clubs much easier. A friend of mine used to use a TP headcover on whatever driver he had, Titleist or non-TP TaylorMade. He had several clubs stolen with the headcover on them and even had just the headcover stolen as well. Since he got the Superquad TP, he does not put a TP headcover on his club anymore. He has not had any issues with theft since.

When I bought my tp at a major golf chain, they told me tm stop putting tp all over the club and no special headcover directly because of theft.

Hmmmmm. Wonder if that's why they don't mark the HEAD either ?
Hell, even the shaft has only a rather small little "TP " logo on it - barely noticable.

There is also a small TP alignment mark on the crown.

I stopped using factory headcovers back at the Titleist "cat-in-the-hat" cover for the 975D... They are definitely "steal me" signs.
I know of many guys who have had Scotty putters, all kinds of drivers and entire bags stolen.
Three weeks ago a guy I was playing with got to the 10th tee and says "where's my driver?" thinking one of us was goofing around. It was GONE! Brand new Nike... somebody just watched us go in to get food and snagged it...
I had a Scotty putter (w/Cameron HC on it) lifted at a charity scramble, got to the first hole and no putter.... I did the putting contest before the round and put it back in the bag, somebody took it while I was at the range... this was at a very high end Country Club.
Now I just use animals, and other plain jane covers, particularly when at a muni, then I even take my old sun bleached carry bag... nobody would steal that thing... nice to be able to get a Coke or take a leak without fear....
It sucks to have to watch your bag like a hawk...

wow! I always watch my clubs real close, I mean guys a lot of have expensive bags, i try not to ever let it leave my sight. if i go eat i will put my bag in the car or park in front of a door or window so I can watch it. I always just thought i was paranoid, (I have been robbed at gun point). I never figured this actually happened. i guess i need to keep an eye on it. Clubs definately stand out, for instance people always notice if you have a new club, keep an eye out boys. at least TM is catching on to it...

A few eeks ago at a very crowded demo day event I was done demoing clubs and went to hit a bucket with my gamers.
About half a bucket in I turn around and my bag is gone. I looked quickly one way and there is a guy with it around his shoulder walking toward the exit. I decide to follow him a bit. He walks PAST the exit and on down the range a bit and puts the bag down.
I come up behind him and say "What the hell do you think you're doing with my bag ?"
He turns around, looks blank and says "I'm sorry. Are they yours ? I thought they were my son's". I told him "Damn right they're mine. Maybe you should be more careful ?!?!?!"
I let him just walk down back towards where I was hitting and sure enough he goes to a similar bag where there's a boy right near them and he and the boy pick up that other bag and walk away.
Guess it was just an honest mistake, but,,,,,,,,,

I was flying back to LAX with my sticks last year and when I got to Baggage Claim, there was a travel bag just like mine (blue last bag) that was not mine... I waited and waited. Of course mine does not show up.
I go to the baggage desk with the identical bag and they open it... they find the guys phone number and call him. He is in a limo on the way to his hotel... They stop he checks and sure enough... his limo driver took my clubs. It was 11pm so I agreed to let him bring them back to the airport in the morning so United could deliver to my home. I got them back fine but learned a big lesson... my bag has very distinctive marking on it now.
Proof that people can make honest mistakes and pick up the wrong bag.
