Hello,
We usually have 3 guys in our group and we're looking for other ways to compete besides regular stroke play.
Wolf doesn't work very well with 3 and I didn't see a lot of other good suggestions in the archive for 3 players. Two of us are about the same and the third guy is 1 or 2 strokes better per hole.
Any fun suggestions??

i like to play 9 point, best score on hole gets 5, second gets 3, and third gets 1. give a monetary value to the points so you can try to win money at the end. If all tie on the hole all points are divided equally ( 3 points for everyone. If bottom two tie they split four total points while the top still get 5 points for the win of the hole)
I also play the animal game, make each animal worth a certain amount of money again. The object is to stay away from the animals. If you hit one in the water, you will receive the fish,
water=fish
sand=cat
tree = monkey
3 putt =snake
Any Pavement = armadillo
you stuck with the animal at the end of the day you pay each of your playing partners the agreed monetary value. It makes it fun when other people start stealing your animals and you can give them a hard time about it. Seems ot lighten things up and put a different type of competitiion in your head.

Skins comes to mind, or the better player of the three can take on the best ball of the lesser two. If one of the guys is 1 to 2 shots better PER hole, a match between him, and the better ball of the other two could be a good way to go too.

We do a six point game - points either go 2-2-2, 3-3-0, 4-1-1, 4-2-0. It works really well for us, and you basically just play your own game. I find some stuff like Wolf takes over the golf.

if you like gambling, try "two-putt poker"
Everyone contributes a certain aount at the beginning to the pot ($20, whatever you're comfortable with) and everyone recieves two cards from a deck of playing cards.
If you two-putt, nothing happens.
If you one putt, you get another card from the deck.
If you three-putt, you contribute to the pot ($5, whatever you're comfortable with)
At the end of the round, whoever has the best poker hand wins.
This works for multiple skill levels because you can win with just the first two cards you get. Also, anything which is not on the putting surface is not considered a putt. So you can be one inch on the fringe and if you get it down in 2, you get another card.
it's fun. I keep a deck of plastic cards in my bag for any occasion.

Dont forget,if the top 2 tie it is 4-4-1 and if one player beats the other 2 by 2 strokes or more that player gets all 9 points for that hole. For example..player 1 makes a birdie 3 and the other two make bogey 5. Player 1 gets all 9 points.

forgot the name of the game.
holes 1-9 are worth 5 points.
holes 10-18 are worth 10 points.
winner of the hole gets the points but if atleast one other person ties, the points go into the next round.
so if player a and c tie hole # 1 then hole # 2 is worth 10. but if player b and c tie then hole 3 would be worth 15.
the player with the most points wins. sometimes there will be a tie and a playoff hole is needed, so it could pose a problem if there is a tie in the end and you can't get back on the course.

Greenies, Sneaky's, Poley's, Birdies, Sandy's, Chippy's and Hole.
For each one of the above you get a dot, each dot is worth your chosen amount of money.
How it is scored:
Greenies on par 3's and 5's, you get the greeny if you are the closet to the pin in regulation. Point carries over to next Par 3 or 5 if no one hits it.
Sneaky's by getting up and down for par.
Poley's by making your first putt that is long than the pin.
Birdies by making a birdie.
Sandy's by getting up and down out of the sand.
Chippy's for chipping in.
Hole by winning the hole using handicap.
this game is great for anybody because it gives a chance for everyone to win. And you can get multiple dots on a hole, ie this putt is for a sneaky, poley.
