Just browsed the pairing sheet for sectional qualifying at Lake Merced in Daly City, just outside of San Francisco. Field includes
Jason Gore, Kevin Sutherland, Michael Allen, the guy with the hat from Big Break, Benoit, Stanford All-American Zack Miller, plus others. First class golf, up close and personal and FREE! I'm so there.

Where did you find those pairing at? Do they have them for all the sectionals?

I found that at the NCGA (Northern Ca. Golf Assoc) website, where they have a tournament calendar. Sorry, only a sheet for Nor Cal is provided.

I'll most likely go too, but to watch my good friend Martin Trainer.

Is it ok for spectators to attend this sectional? I ask b/c Merced is a private club ...

Yes Sectional Qualifiers are open to the public and free of charge. It's a great opportunity to see some tour players up close. There are no ropes, you can petty much walk anywhere as there are no marshalls or such. I've seen some fans actually walk down the fairways near the players. However, usually the caddie will ask them to move back out of the fairways. It is usually a great enjoyable day. Two years ago in Maryland I was standing next to Joey Sindelar as he watched scores go up on the handwritten scoreboard by the clubhouse. He had to wait just like everyone else to find out if he made it (which he did).

I've been to Lake Merced many times to watch, so unless they have changed the policy, GO! Don't forget a jacket.
One year in particular that stands out was when this scrawny kid named Tiger gave it a go. Didn't make it.

To the other poster, I'll make it a point to check out City Champ Martin Trainer - he looks very promising!

Yeah, Martin is a real solid player. I play/practice with him alot, so I really hope he does well. He was medalist @ US Am qualifying @ Lake Merced last summer, so I hope he can keep up that magic or better this go around!

The best sectional is gonna be on my home course
Ohio State Golf Club- Scarlet.
Since the Memorial is this weekend, nearly all of the field that needs to qualify plays here in Columbus.
The courses are about 10 minutes from each other.
A couple of guys actually were in the group behind me on Sunday. The only one i recognized was Charlie Hoffman though.

Yea,
Its basically like a PGA Tour one day tourney here at OSU, for Free!!
I got to walk a couple holes with Phil Mickelson last year.

His brother Tim was playing in the Sectional.
Last year Bubba Watson edged out Ryan Moore for the Medalist honors.
The field also included
Boo Weekley
Anthony Kim
Jesper Parnevik
Woody Austin
Camillo Villegas
Sean O'Hair
Tom Lehman
Charley Hoffman
Steve Flesch
Mark O'Meara
Frank Lickliter
Bob Tway
John Cook
Just to name a few.

Is anyone going to the one near Memphis? I think I may drive the 3 hours to watch if its free and open to the public like the others. Does anyone know? I can't find any info other than the players that will be there.

The Memphis sectional is listed on the USGA website as Cordova,TN. Here is the link .
http://usga.usopen.com/qualifying/cordova.htmlPlay is at Colonial CC. Former home of the FedEx/St. Jude and in my opinion still the best course in the area. The field at Memphis is probably second best to Columbus, although Justin Leonard is listed, but has since gotten exemption.

The Conway Farms sectional tee times have been posted for a week or so. Some big names at this site, in addition to a few guys who had strong showings in this weekend's Bank of America Open in Glenview.
