During my last range session I started taking a couple of practice swings with my Momentus weighted iron prior to hitting every shot and the results were nothing short of amazing.

Under the Rules of Golf am I permitted to do this in play (assuming I put a normal grip on it and only carry 14 clubs including the weighted one)?

People warm up with wedges. Wouldn't that be the same concept?

I don't mean for warm up...I mean before every shot?

By the Rules Of Golf.. is there a weight limit on a club?

I would think as long as its conforming, then there would be no issue
nebatty
With a regular grip and only 13 other clubs you would be fine. No rule violation.
curryj
Slow play would probably be your main concern

You may carry any club that conforms to the rules of golf.

4-4a/7 Carrying Weighted Training Club
Q. May a player carry a weighted training club in addition to the 14 clubs selected for the round?

A. No, but a weighted training club may be selected as one of 14 clubs carried by a player, provided it conforms with Rule 4-1 (e.g., an excessively-weighted driver head may breach the limit on Moment of Inertia — see Appendix II). (Revised)

You may also carry a weighted training device like a Speed Stick, but you may not use it. I imagine (but am not sure) that a non-conforming weighted club would fall under this decision.

14-3/10 Use of Training or Swing Aid During Round
Q. During a round, may a player make a stroke or a practice swing using a club with a weighted headcover or “donut” on it, or use any other device designed as a training or swing aid?

A. No. The player would be using an artificial device to assist him in his play in breach of Rule 14-3, but see also Decision 4-4a/7 for use of a weighted training club. (Revised)

There's no weight limit on clubs. If the club conforms with the specs. in appendix II, it can have any weight.

If you carry a weighted club or use a training device like a Speed Stick during a round it counts as one of your 14 clubs.

If you carry and use a weighted club otherwise conforming - no penalty. It's just another club
If you use a speed stick training aid during the round, you're disqualified.

You have edited this posting at least twice - and still not sure?

A non-conforming weighted club does not fall under Dec. 14-3/10 - it's just a non-conforming club, covered under Rule 4-1.
More editing?

Is there a need to behave like a jerk? Is there a limit on edits, or do you simply need to virtually puff your chest out?

I edited the post twice. Once when I realized my error and to add the first decision, and a second time to add the second decision since I couldn't cut an paste them at the same time. I also added formatting the second time to make it easier to read.

If it makes you feel more manly, I am sure you know more about the rules than I do. I even posted that I was unsure, which in polite company would be seen as an invite for clarification.

The thread is all yours my friend. I'd rather read a friendlier thread.

By the way, I'm not sure you are correct, but I'm pretty sure you aren't really interested in a discussion.

Medicus makes a weighted Maximus lob wedge that their website claims is legal for USGA play. I assume it could be one of your 14 clubs, and used for practice swings during play.

Now the question is can you use a swing weight while you play? You know those little round weights you put on any club to increase the weight of it. I would imagine this might be a better device since you can use the club you are going to hit.

No you may not. That question was covered by a decision earlier in this thread.

How about swinging your club with the headcover it came with. I do that before the round. I don't think I have done it during. It is not a weighted headcover, just the one that came with the club. My intent when swinging is too loosen up. So, does this fall under the rule because my intent is to use like a training aid. How about swinging 2 clubs at once, like some guys do?

No problem on swinging 2 clubs. I don't think there is a problem swinging the driver with the non weighted cover as it is not designed as a training aid. Not 100% sure however...
