First off I missed the cut by one stroke and am in no way blaming anyone but myself because at the end of the day I am the guy pulling the trigger.

I am in the last group of the day, a twosome. Playing behind another twosome who is waiting on every shot. We figured why rush and do the same so we kept our space in order to try and have some sort of rythmm to the round.

My player partner hits a bad shot and it takes a while to get a ruling, as we put out on the whole the official that helped us with the rulling tells us we are out of place and need ot pick it up.

We rush to the tee box and both hit horrible shots, he makes double and I miss a shortish (2 footer) for par after a great lob shot over a bunker as he is pacing the green.

As we approach the next tee the group in front of us is just pulling away, how in the heck were we out of place?

So again we try to pace ourselves, but they have a couple rough holes and we are waiting like crazy. We do the same a couple of holes later and again the same official warns us we are out of place. Again we finsih the hole only to get to the next tee and wait 15 minutes on the tee of a long par 3.

I again hit a poor shot and make bogey, my playing partner gathers himself and give it the ole who gives a rats a** swing and almost makes an ace.

Later in the round the officials crowd our tee box to the point where I had to ask one to move in order to get my desired tee shot angle, needless to say I am starting to fume and hit it in the hazard.

Two holes later another official pulls up on my on my take away on my tee ball and I have to stop. I re-start my routine only to have another do the same. Yep, another ball in the hazard. To top it off not one of the guys watched my shot to help me with a drop.

Like I said above, I am the one who makes the shots and it is up to me to cool down. But this did drive me crazy.

To top it all off, we finished in under 4 1/2 hours. Which is quick considering the course if anyone knows it (tons of red and yellow stakes everywhere) and playing in a qualifier.

Anyone else ever have a problem with local official? And should I have said something to the guy running the event or email him?

Thanks!!

I've run into "officials" like this before. They seem to get off on telling people that they are out of position. You can try sending a letter to inform the director of the behavor of his "officials", but it won't do any good most likely.
The big question is, why were there 2 twosomes at the back of the field?? Did someone drop out of each group?

Both groups had a no show to make the twosomes.

I played a state 4-ball tournament this week and had an offfical following us for 4 holes. I finally asked him if we were on pace? He said, yes you're good and than stopped following us. I was telling my playing partners if were behind just tell us.....but the guy just kept with us for 4 or 5 holes.

I guess I would have just politely explained that you were waiting on the group in front of you and asked for him to check the groups in front.

I have had a few do the same. Some can be pretty cool though. During my senior year of high school during regional qualifying an official that was set to follow us the whole day would start driving during our shots. He was staying quite close rather than watching from a distance and had a loud gas cart. One of my playing partners/rivals/friends was so fed up that he refused to make the turn unless we either got a new guy or he was explained some good tournament etiquette. They obliged. We then had two officials in addition to the fifty or so people following us. Ridiculous.
