Whats up with big John D ?? Maybe the lack of good beer in Italy is the remedy ?? Or maybe it's the wine that helps ?? Anyway he is on the way to a good 1st round score: http://scores.europeantour.com/default.sps...d&infosid=2

wow - John Daly's world ranking is 609! Let's see how he goes - hopefully that bogey doesn't lead to any more as he finishes the day

He'll find some Peroni soon enough

the lack of good beer in italy? are you serious!!! european beer is the only beer worth drinking! rather than the additive filled piss the yanks put out!
ejmac
He may never come back to the USA if he tries some of the lager there.

That is a pretty big chunk you're biting off here by suggesting that European beers are better than USA beer. Which European beers are we talking about here, and which "Yanks" beers are you referring to?? rolleyes.gif

It's pretty easy to compare, for example, your fine Belgian brews against, say our PBR's, Coors, Miller Lite, Nattie Light and, as you say it, our whizz that we American's put out. Just in case you haven't heard, our micro brews are next to none. Heck, I've even heard that our micro's are imported over to Europe as the Europeans tastes are becoming more refined. biggrin.gif

I'm happy to drink beer from either side of the Atlantic myself. Or anywhere else if I'm honest...

The main drawback of american beer is the obsession with chilling it to a liquid nitrogen-esque temperature that makes your teeth throb when you drink it. rolleyes.gif

I'll agree here, and especially with the better brews served over here. Chilling beer to the frost factor completely obliterates the taste, but on the other hand, I don't want it room temperature either. laugh.gif

American beer has made strides! Sierra Nevada, for one, is as good as any Euro ale. And I've actually been on both sides of the Atlantic and sampled (too) many good beers. I don't ever trust it unless I'm in the country it's brewed in; there are just too many variables that go into making a good beer, and the quality of the water is one. Another is age. Atmosphere. Ambience. The presence of Dutch girls.

In Ireland I found Guiness tasted nearly the same, but Harp was night and day from the stuff I get in the grocery store.

Cheers,
Ben

Another strange grip, but seems to works well for england's European tour's rookie Ross mac Gowan, sharing the lead on first round with a nice 64

I am a huge fan of the beer in Belgium, also like the Kolsch from Germany. European beer "in general" is better, but as the poster above stated the stuff from Sierra Nevada, Dogfish, Athens Brewing Co. and others is very good. Especially the Pale Ale's from those Brewers. If I am drinking lager I like the variety from Germany and Belgium (Czech Republic ain't bad either)

Czech beer like Pilsner Urqueil (sp?) is some of the best. The original Budweiser was from Czechoslovakia (now Czech Repub). My friends owned a U.S. hotel in FL and the German would fill the hotel dumpster with American Bud cans - they drink beer by the battleship full. I hate Bud because mega headache from rice beer but I am not a big drinker anyway.

Been to the German monks on tyhe hill near Frankfurt that supposedly has the best beer in the world. I actually like red ales like Ireland's Harp.

Sam Adam's for domestic stuff is not bad at all. Lots of varieties too.

Is this John in Italy today? Looks like he lost a little weight. Maybe Butch firing him woke him up. I hope Daly gets his life together.
