I think it's fair to say that the biggest running story in the world of golf is the question of who will challenge or possibly even dethrone Tiger, but is this really what we want? Tiger is on pace to become the greatest golfer who has ever lived, and we are all alive to witness this living legend as he enters his prime. Do we really want someone to challenge him and possibly even prevent him from attaining his ultimate goal of surpassing Jack's record? I think all this banter over who will challenge, and which players suddenly have what it takes to overtake Tiger, just shows how much we take for granted what an incredible thing we've been fortunate enough to witness over the last decade and change. A little competition certainly never hurt anyone, but if Tiger were to somehow fall short of what seems inevitable because of a legitimate rival would we be satisfied?

Someone who can challenge Tiger will ultimately push him to play better golf. I'm all for it.
I'm convinced we still haven't seen the best of his game.

I would love to see someone challange him, i do like the way he dominates alot of the time but it does get boring after a while, as for him breaking records, yes he can do it and if he is that good any challanger wouldn't stop him from acheiving it.
But i would like to see him do it, just so i can tell the storys when i'm all old and kranky

IMO, Tiger will play better and be more motivated -- if that's possible -- if he is truly challenged by a current golfer rather than just by history.

Absolutely.
I want to see the records
earned and if someone challenges Tiger and he falls short, then the records are even more vaunted and Jack deserves added kudos that his records withstood Tiger.
Why? Is there someone ready to de-throne Tiger?

Why challenge Tiger? What the other player's need to do is challenge the course--they're not competing against each other per se, but against the course --right? he he he.

Yes.
Like what others have said. Tiger will definitely step it up to the next level and we'll see even greater things from him.
You're joking right? Or just trying to stir up something for a good topic. I honestly think you can't be serious. It would be great if someone challenge Tiger, it would be great for golf. Tiger should break Jack's record, but it shouldn't be easy and hopefully take him into his 40's to do.
The amazing thing about Jack and his record is that it took him along time to do, showing his amazing longevity of quality play. Also the fact that he played against some great major Champions like Watson, Palmer, Trevino.

I think just the opposite, if Tiger doesnt have anyone push him people will and do say the competition wasn't as stiff, and discredit Tiger for that. Plus someone pushing Tiger would be fund to watch.

If someone tries to discredit Tiger because he didn't have anyone who could hang with him, that person is a moron (and probably Skip Bayless).

That's the best golf on TV. when Tiger is being challenged and then he wins there's nothing better. Think of all the Tiger highlights. Aren't they typically performed when he's being pushed?

zach johnson, michael campbell, trevor immelman, angel cabrera, and rich beem......they all come to mind as people who have pushed tiger.
