I was at the Wachovia this week, and I noticed a lot of players would represent their companys newest driver headcover even if they werent playing that driver... Adam Scott plays a 905r but he has a D2 headcover.. Do a lot of players do this?

Of course most of them do this. That is why they are being payed millions by these companies. Most of the people aren't smart enough to figure out the tour guys aren't playing that particular driver.

So it's good marketing for the company, and 90% of the people think they are using the newest product. In reality there are about 10% of the guys on tour that actually use the same product that can be found on the shelf....

Any brand you see on any PGA Tour player is bought and paid for by advertisers. Since the advertisers only want to push new stuff, any logos/brands displayed will be the new stuff.

Let's say a Ping player loves his eye2's, his Ping bag and headcovers will be logo'd up with Ping's newest offerings. Same with TaylorMade, Titleist, and Nike.

Heck, sometimes headcovers cover clubs made by another OEM. Wouldn't want to see an R7 in the bag of a Titleist guy would they?

In my opinion, the funniest camo job involved John Daly during his TaylorMade days. Although he was playing Dunlop blades, they wanted it to appear he was playing a TMAG product. The solution - they painted "feel pockets" onto the back of his clubs. From a distance, it even worked. Up close, it was hysterical.

Its all perception.

Like Onebulldogs said, it's all about ad money. Guys have a contract with say Ping to play their clubs. But players also have contracts for their headcovers, clothes, hat, bag, etc. So a guy might have a contract for his bag and say irons w/ Bridgestone. So he has a Bridgestone bag and HC's, but he plays a Taylormade driver. TM is happy because it ups their driver count and Bstone is happy because the guy is carrying their bag and their HC's.

Or a guy like Adam Scott that has a contract w/ Titleist for all his clubs and clothes doesn't use their newest product, but they want their newest product being repped, so he just has to put a 907 HC on it.

So ya, there are lots of guys that have a new HC w/ an old driver or one OEM's HC over another OEM's driver. It's all about who has contracts w/ who and for what.

I thought Adam's clothes contract was with Burberry.

He might just use the D2 headcover cause it's easier to take on and off than the 905R. That's what I do.

It may be easier to use, but the reason he does it is because Titleist tells him to do it.

Ummm...I think Daniel Chopra uses Rocket Tour headcovers, not Ping headcovers?
