My dad and I are traveling to the Northeast for my dad's birthday this year in August. We are flying in to Boston to meet my brother and going straight to Fenway for a game. As soon as the game is over ~10:30pm we are driving straight to Bethpage to try and get on the Black course. How difficult is it for a threesome to get on the Black on a Thursday in August. I have heard all the stories about staying overnight in the parking lot. If we get to Bethpage around 3am will we have a good chance of making it on the Black? Would we have a better chance camping out Thursday night to try for Friday morning?

Any advice would help. I am trying to plan a great "guys" week - Fenway, Bethpage, Black, Yankee Stadium, and Cooperstown in 5 days.

probably very difficult to get a threesome without a teetime from what I've heard, especially on the black. You might be waiting till the end of the day, but its probably worth a shot. Worste case you play one of green, or one of the others.

My Dad and I went on a Thursday last year but we were just a twosome. We got there around 10 am and were able to get a 2:30 tee time. I'm sure you can camp out in the car and get an earlier tee time, but I don't think it will be overly difficult finding a tee time for the Black if you get there early enough, say 6 am.

How much does a tee time costs to play Bethpage Black?? I'd like to plan a trip there...

Thanks

if you live in ny state it is 60 on weekends plus $4 if you are able to get a reservation ahead of time. i think it is 50 monday to friday excluding holidays. out of ny residents pay double 100/120.

Since we are only a threesome, I can only try for a tee time 2 days out, any NY residents interested in trying to get a tee time 7 days out and joining us to make a foursome?

weekday is far easier than a weekend, my advice is- make sure weather forecast is decent, because they dont hesitate to close the black if it rains alot even the night before. 3am is risky even for a weekday. its not uncommon for there to be 50 cars on the line by then. someone i know got there at 7pm the night before and was 17th on the line. same guy absolutley wanted to be 1st on the line and got there at 11am on friday for play on saturday( totally nutz). keep in mind only the 1st hour is available for walkups(car line) and then 1 tee time per hour there after. so from 6:30 to about 2:30 there is only approx. 14-16 tee times for walkups. rest are reservations which rarely open up unless its gonna be oppressivley hot that day. i say if your from out of town and its possibly going to be a 1 in lifetime or rare occasion, then do it right. get there as early as possible, and pass the time with the family or whoever.

ps. teeing off later than 2:30 you might not finish before dark.

good luck
