A few buddies and I are planning a golf getaway mid July. Does anyone know of any good stay n play golf packages in the US? We are looking into Myrtle Beach, Alabama or Louisiana, but are open to anywhere else with good golf.
Appreciate any input you can offer.

Montana also has a number of good courses that are super easy on the wallet!
Mesquite might also be a good choice?

I was going to say Mesquite/St. George Utah has a lot of underrated golf but in July you're looking at temps 100*+...but it's a dry heat.

I leave for the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama tomorrow. It's the third time my father and I have done it and we love it. Great value, people, and courses.

I had a great time at the Brunswick Plantation in Calabash, NC last year. It is only a 5 minute drive over the bridge to North Myrtle Beach from there. Here's the link:

Not cheap, and in the "wrong" direction, but what about the whole experience with the American Club and the courses in Kohler, Wisconsin?

Mid-July? Peak season in northern Michigan.
Might be further than you want to come, but there are a lot of really good courses ... and it's not 110 degrees in the shade!

How about Bandon Dunes? Every golfer has to play there once!

There are some very good resorts in northern Michigan. Treetops and Lakewood Shores. You could also go to the Gaylord area and many of the hotels will put together packages for you. Also in Gaylord you could rent a house or cabin from Pine Cone Vacations and they will customize a golf package for you.( i just planned a trip through them) There are a lot of other great courses that aren't part of a resort so you could find a centralized location and drive to the courses in the area.

I know most people don't think of Indiana as golfing destination, Hamilton county just north of Indianapolis has great golf courses.
The following are great courses:
The Fort
Purgatory
Brickyard Crossing
Praire View
Bear Slide

Check out the "Myrtle Beach Golf Gurus" great guys and good deals. They have packages or creat your own. I highly reccomend any of the Cat Courses, River's Edge (Palmer) or Carolina National (Freddy). You can't go wrong in Myrtle.

All three of these are going to be brutally hot in July....I would look elsewhere for that time frame. It will be cheaper because it is in the summer....but bring sunscreen and be ready to sweat.

Four course options through Kohler (The Straits and Irish courses at Whistling Straits;
The River and
Meadows at Blackwolf Run), plus
The Bull. If you looking for more, you're only an hour from
Erin Hills. That there would be some
serious golf over a four day weekend..
Always ranked highly as a stay and play, and the American Club is top notch.

My 2 cents. I would have to second Michigan. I'm in Missouri now. However, I am a native of Michigan. July is a great time in Northern Michigan. The temp is great and the air is fresh. I did Treetops two-three years ago and loved it. There are like 4-5 courses that are out of sight. The have one of the best par-3 courses in the country. The rooms are big. The rates are low. Also, if you fly into Detroit and drive up, there are some good outlets and casinos as well.
All that siad, that was my only experinece with a stay and play resort. So, my knowledge base is limited. Hope this helps.

Treetops and Lakewood Shores and the Gaylord Area are all great destinations.
Here are a couple more:
Boyne - including the highly rated Bay Harbor
Traverse City area
