South Georgia Classic... Kinderlou is a lovely course, and the tournament was a blast to attend last year. I'll be going again this week, and hopefully the weather will cooperate; last year, the tournament was the week after the Master's in April, and we had a cold and windy snap on the weekend.
I was more familiar with some of the players last year, and was especially impressed watching Matt Jones and Chez Reavie, both of whom are playing solidly on the PGA tour this year.
The course is seriously (7800 yds.) long and difficult for most golfers, but these Nationwide players seem to handle it pretty well. It is fun to play on occasion, and the facilities are first-rate. I play regularly at Stone Creek, another wonderful Valdosta club.
It will be interesting to see the course on television, and I hope the tournament exceeds expectations for all involved!

I can't wait to watch some of the coverage this weekend. I was stationed there from 98-00 and Kinderlou was probably just a memory back then. I loved playing Stone Creek--great course and a welcome relief from the 9-hole track at Moody!

Funny you said that. DL3's course design motto is "I build super fun golf courses."

I played there for the GA v Alabama challenge (HS tourney) and had a blast... I guess he succeeded in making it a super fun course

Just got back from Kinderlou, good turnout and nice weather. The tournament was running like a well-oiled machine, and the quality of golf was high! Saw most all of the Golf Channel commentators... Brandi that does the interviews is even prettier in person, as is on-course commentator Kay Cockerill!
I'm going with Greg Owen to win this thing; we followed him from 9-18, and he was on fire. He's a shot back after today's round, but if he comes out firing tomorrow, it's his for the taking. My son got a bunch of autographs on his Titleist cap, the food was good, course gorgeous. I much prefer the back 9; the front has some holes of iffy design, in my opinion... gimmicky and tricked out, and unfair.
A great day overall. Tomorrow I'm playing, but my son will likely go with some of his buddies. I'll debrief him and report back.

Kinerlou is my dad's home course and my dad was on TGC when they showed South GA Medical Center. He was in the suit introducing the players to the brand new ER and the Dasher Heart Center.
I wish you could see the elevation changes on tv, even HD doesn't do it justice.
They did not cut the greens Friday morning as they started at 11/5 on Thursday and got to 13.5 by Friday afternoon. I'm sure the were 13+ on Sunday.
I think the biggest talk of the week was that at 7781 yards, Kinderlou is the longest course to be played on ANY PGA tour. The only tee's they played forward were par 3 # 17 all 4 days, par 4 #3 on Saturday, and par 4 #18 on Sunday. Otherwise, they played the tips.
Great tournament, great coverage, great weather, and great play. I'm looking forward to next year!

Yeah, the greens looked slick as glass on Saturday when I was there, and they were rolling them after play finished! I was rooting for Greg Owen to win, but he had a couple of high numbers on the front 9 (ugh), and then didn't make much of a charge afterward. The quality of play was tremendous, the course looked great, and the TV coverage was super-cool. Congrats to the winner DeCorso... apparently he was once employed by TGC doing on-course commentary.
This has been a great event for Valdosta and the surrounding area, and I also look forward to next year.

As a native Valdostan, I think it's great for the area. I also think that there's bigger and better things in store for Kinderlou in the distant future. I can guarantee that the hotels they're building are
NOT for Wild Adventure.
