Seriously I think the current world rankings are about right, they should probably put more emphasis on the current year, and less on the previous two years, but the formula seems to work better than it did in previous years.

Don't rub it in Chris... Since the demise of The Golf Channel UK I'm denied the sights of the LPGA - and of the lovely Laura Baugh as a presenter.

Then again, the way Brittany's clumping it round thus far this season I'm not missing much. rolleyes.gif

It is all about top 10's, you don't have to win anything to rank fairly high, in fact it is probably better to get a top 5 in the US than a win in Asia because of the strength of the field. Sergio can't win but he finishes high, makes a lot of cuts, plays in the majors, and World Championship events and took 2nd in the Open Championship last year. A good example in the opposite direction would have been Ben Curtis a few years back.....won the British, won on the PGA tour, basically missed the cut the rest of the year and never got too high in the rankings.

For me being good at any game or sport is big in closing. My personal feelings are that if you can't win you aren't at the level of the guys that close these tournaments. A big part of any game is winning. I like to have all people that have won. Does he have the game? YES.(probably has the shots to be #2) But What keeps him from winning is in his head and Golf is a mental game....

I don't necessarily disagree, it is just my understanding of that is how it works. NASCAR's system seems to work the same way as well as the LPGA, you are rewarded for consistancy not wins. Personally I think that winning should give you more of an advantage, and winning majors an even bigger advantage than the current system. JMO

Weekley for his amazing ballstriking
Westwood because i think hes so underated and is there or there abouts in most tounaments

I almost put Martin Kaymer in but its a bit early. Shouldnt be long

Besides Tiger & Phil, there is a lot of really good talent.
Some young, some old, some middle age, but all having
one thing in common -- inconsistancy -- they are here today,
gone tomorrow. Adam and Sergio have the best chance of
becoming year after year producers. VJ,Els,Goosen,Furyk,
and maybe more don't seem viable contenders anymore by their
recent play. I think we're going to have to reduce the list to the
Big Four.

I noticed a few people put Vijay on their list and others left him off totally. He has not been playing very well lately. He was doing well at Doral for a while but that is about it for 2008.

I think Adam Scott could be Top3 in teh world but I think he likes to take some time off. He seems to like to get back to Australia every now and then. The flight there knocks you out for a week.
