I have played there. Nothing any different from playing any other courses. Just have fun and play your shots as what you can see on the course in front of you.

The course is very much a new Fazio design. It good shape but nothing stunning. Like the previous poster mentioned, everything is right in front of you...nothing too tricky....

Have fun

Finley is pretty good. The last three or four holes are very strong.

Have fun.

Played it last year and thought it was an ok course. The only hole I could remember was a bad hole because it was really that bad.

I've played there a handful of times. It can be an unusually challenging course. There are some fairly tight driving holes and the rough can be tough depending on the conditions. We've had a lot of rain lately so it's probably pretty thick. THe greens are ususally pretty fast. I've had some great holes and some really bad holes there. I'd say the biggest thing to think about is pay more attention where you need to hit your tee shot.

Have fun.

Just be aware that in Chapel Hill, the girls like the boys and the boys do too....they sell boxers with the hole in the back instead of the front...not that there is anything wrong with that.

Will,

I just played there two weeks ago and everything was in great shape. The greens had to be rolling between 10 and 11 and were perfect. I have played a couple of other times, but it was in the best shape this time. Well, I guess for still being pretty much dorment everywhere. Greens were great though. It is a tough track I think. I have always tended to play well there, but it plays pretty long if you are playing the back tees. When I was out there the wind was swirling a lot and we were getting no roll on any shots. Played very very tough.

Good luck, you will really like the layout I think! One other poster mentioned a bad hole. In my opinion number 10 just might have been that hole. It is kind of a bad one I think. Other than than...it is great.

What else is very interesting is the speech you will get on the first tee. I can't remember the lady's name, but she talked about the history of the course, Tom Fazio, and just about everything else. It lasted like 10 minutes and we were all like, ok thanks can we play now!! She was a very nice lady though!

Had a great time. Very nice course, however it was very easy. I typically play mountain courses. I TORE THIS COURSE UP, I shot a 79 a personal best. Very nice kept course. I played from the whites, because I was playing with my dad, this was very short. The par 5's were 450 the longest was only 46. The 1 handicap is a course across a wetland and a few bunkers that plays slightly uphill. It wasent that hard of a course. A good fazio design, a lot of bunkers and elevated greens. But I loved it, thanks for the recomendation.

My best round ever is only a 78...but I did not walk away from that course saying that I "tore it up" kind of a bold statement...but congrats on the personal best. Always very cool to shoot a personal best on a course where you do not know the secrets and places to leave the ball. My 2 rounds of 78 are on course that I have still only played once...maybe there is something to be said for not over-thinking a round or a course. At our level just put the ball in play off the tee and shoot for the center of the green.

I'm a member there and def. last four holes are my favorite. I think the course has been designed cleverly, par 4s aren't always about blasting a driver.
Lot of the times it's easier to play the hole w/ a three wood or even a five wood and have a full shot into the green. Even though it looks like many other courses, there are many variations to the course. Get a permission to play from the tar heel tee and that makes things a little more interesting and fun.

Hope you enjoy it.

I live in Boone. I play Blowing Rock CC as much as I can. Boone GC is the only public course in the area, but it stays real crowded. I joined a club, Cedarbrook CC, which is an hour away. It gives me a place to play in the winter since all the courses close here for the winter.

definately, i thought it was real short... you really need to play for the blues or farther back. i played from the whites and it was real short. i enjoyed it though. the final four hole were neat. i especially liked the hole with the split fairway and the monster of a two tier green... that thing was mean. thankfully i went high.
