Any opinions on these courses, both in Chandler AZ:
Whirlwind Golf Club
Ocotillo Golf Resort
Thanks!

Whirlwind is good. I've played the Devils Claw a couple of times. Nice layout, very playable. I recommend it. There are better courses, but this is certainly not a bad course at all.
Ocotillo is an odd course - not bad, but different. If you are looking for a break from desert golf this is a nice change. Water, water and more water. Water everywhere. I think almost every hole. I played it about 4 years ago. It is nice, but not desert golf. All depends what you're looking for.
Have fun - JS

Whirlwind is definitely a good one to play.
Ocotillo is very different as stated above.
I think Ocotillo is good for target golf. So if you are a precision player you will have a good time at both of these courses.

I agree with both responses and would like to add that both courses are usually in terrific shape.

Just got back from playing Cat Tail Course at Whirlwind Golf Resort.
Great place, excellent condition! Staff was A+. Couldn't say anough good things about it.
It was so good my wife's only complaint was the minor wait on the back 9 tee boxes. We still got around in 4.5 hrs though.
Go to their website and print the "C Note Special" voucher. It's good for green fees, sleeve of ProV1's, and a voucher for $25 of food, drink, and/or tobacco.
It was a very pleasant golfing experience and we will golf the Devils Claw in the summer when we go back.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like we're going with The Devil's Claw at Whirlwind. Not our "main" round on this AZ trip. Should work just fine.

Whirlwind is pretty much my 'home' course. Great facilities, and always in good shape. Devils claw plays a bit easier than Cattail, but you really can't go wrong with either one.
Ocotillo is different for sure, as stated. Lots of water and houses/condos around that course where whirlwind has NOTHING around it. Ocotillo is also 27 holes, so you never know which 2 nines you will be playing (not that it really matters).
