I was at Sports Authority the other just browsing... and decided to play with the putters. I picked this Taylormade Dayonta 1 putter and putted around with it... And I have to say its very smooth. A lot of the shots were straight and felt really crisp. I tried others but they weren't as smooth. Anybody have any positive experiences with this putter. Are there any other comparable models i should check out?

I'm not sure if youre referring to the newer Daytona but I had an older one (the one before the new one) and I couldnt stand it. I have no idea what the deal was with that putter but I quickly got rid of it. However, I know a couple of people that still use that putter and they seemed to like it. So you know what they say, different strokes for different folks.

I had an older Rossa Daytona Sport a few years ago and it sucked..HARD!

I got rid of it after one round.

The newer Rossa putters with the AGSI and AGSI+ inserts are very good. I have a Daytona AGSI (selling) and a Siena AGSI+ putter and the ball rolls very nicely with the grooved insert. I'm currently gaming the Siena AGSI+ and I will say that it took me a little while to get used to it, so I can understand the folks that don't love it right away. They are great on faster greens but distance control on slower greens can be a challenge. They are great putters for the $.

Yeah i was looking at the newer one i suppose... it has a nice black glossy face with a red insert.

I found the Daytona I had last year to be EXTREMELY light weight. I had almost no control over distance or direction with the light swingweight. I'm not sure if they have addressed that on the newer model but it was a definite problem on the previous model.

are there any other comparable putters out there like the new daytona 1?

That's interesting...the previous Daytona (2006 model) had 2 tungsten weight plugs in each bumper so the head felt kind of heavy. The 2007/2008 model doesn't have the plugs - and feels marginally lighter to me. Did your Daytona have the grooved insert or the smooth insert in the face?

It had the tiny little plugs in the bumpers. And it has the AGSI face. But I guess I was used to putters 350+ grams so it wasn't a fair test. But it felt lighter than my 330gram Studio Style I had at the same time.
