I'm looking to play 18 next Saturday near Atlantic City. My whole foursome will be there. We are not in hurry, just looking for a nice course to play. Thanks for the help in advance.

Depends on how far out of AC you want to drive.

10 minutes up the White Horse Pike is Seaview CC, has 36 holes. Bay Course is a Ross design that has a huge links influence. Pines Course is an 18 hole layout that is cut through a forest of pine trees. The Bay used to have an LPGA event and is my favorite of the two.

AC Country Club is really nice, old layout that just was opened to the public a few years ago. Downside is the price....a lot of coin for a round of golf.

Blue Herron Pines is near Seaview and used to offer 36 holes. The East is the better of the two and actually had a USGA event there (I think the men's publinks) a few years back in 2003 and sadly is now closed. The West is not a bad layout, but I still prefer Seaview.

Also in the area, but a further drive are:

Twisted Dune (north of AC)
Sand Barrens (south of AC)
The Links at Brigantine Beach (almost in AC).

PM if you need any help or more suggestions. My wife grew up just outside of AC and I have spent and still do spend a lot of time in AC.

If you are willing to spend the cash I wouldn't look any further than Atlantic City Country Club. I think it's around $200, but well worth it.

AC Country Clib is by FARRRRRRRRR the best course in the area.

The Bay Course is maybe the worst Ross Course I have ever played, they keep changing the routing but no matter what they do it is still a 6000 yard course in average condition. The views are the best part of the course, but who plays a course for the views alone?

The Pines is a better layout, but still in just decent shape.

Blue Heron did used to have 36, the East course which is now closed hosted the Publinks which was won by Brandt Snedeker. The East course is typically in far better shape than both Seaview courses and has a very nice mix of holes.

The other not mentioned would be Sand Barrens, a little bit of a ride, but a fun layout for all levels of play.

I actually prefer the Bay course at Seaview over the Pines. I used to go out at night and play 5 or 6 holes at the Pines when my wife and I were dating since her parents lived just off the 5th fairway. The Bay may be shorter, but I just like the layout better mainly for the vews.

You can never go wrong with AC Country Club, but the price is just a bear to get over.

They ruined Blue Heron when they closes the East, IMHO they closed the wrong 18.

The East course was by far the better of the two, but they have developed all they can on the West so the only options for a retirement village with 9 holes was the East course.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll post our decision and what we thought next week.

AC Country Club is not worth the money. I worked there last summer and played at least 18 holes a day. So, I know the course very well. Sure, it's a nice layout, but the reduced budget has compromised its condition. They just got a new superintendent so hopefully that makes some changes.
