I was looking at a golf ball testing site and they had some surprising info. Their last test was done in July of 2005 and found that the 05 Titleist Pro V was the longest ball overall, using the following criteria.

The distance and spin ratings are based upon our analysis of results obtained from a scientific-based test in an indoor environment utilizing a human tester, Launch Monitor System, and Swing Speed Analyzer.

Four tests were conducted on each golf ball: Driver Test (100mph), Iron Test (80mph), Full Wedge Test (75 mph), and Partial Wedge Test (56mph).

They have not taken into consideration, roll so the results may be a little skewd.

What was surprising to me was how poorly the Bridgetone Tour B330 performed off the irons. Surely this is a misprint.

Here is the URL http://www.golfballtest.com/index.php?order=distance%20DESC# Which I sorted on overall distance.

The 2nd URL is sorted in ascending order for iron distance

I wish they had a category for driver sidespin. That would have been interesting.

Good post.

Driver sidespin rating would be the same as driver spin which is listed. I find the list very useful. I just wish they would test more balls and more frequently so they could include recent offerings. I suppose it is very time consuming and that is why they limit the number of balls tested.

It looks like the Pinnacle Exception scores high in every category, especially price.

From that analysis the Exception is probably the best ball for the buck. Funny....
