Anybody get this on today's coverage?
Thought he missed the Saturday cut, but apparently the Tour elected not to go through with their policy and let all players play the whole weekend. Some players had already left for home and had to come back. Among them Retief had his jet turn around to play on Sunday with his pilot as caddie no less.

Now poor Alex just arrived in Las Vegas (his residence in the US) and turned on his cell to find out he was still in the tourney. Literally ran through the airport to catch the last flight going to Houston. It was the closest to NO any plane would go that evening. There he rented a car, drove all night to NO to arrive early in the morning at the course in recreational clothes and flip-flops. Had to borrow clothes and got himself a rental set of clubs years old and shot his lowest round of the week!!!! Talk about a cool story.

Did you also hear he had to borrow clothes and play with a set of rental clubs, with like one wedge or something, but still managed to shoot one of his best scores. Seems like the Tournament director could have done a better job letting people know who is still in...

A great story. Wonder if it will ever be known what those rental clubs were. Good for him to play so well with borrowed gear.

What a Savage Beast that guy is!!! Awesome story. As an American I natrurally root for U.S. players over guy's from Europe. But that guy is a total beast for puting out that kind of effort just so he wouldn't finish last. Kinda makes you feel like he's more like one of us than some other pro's.

Apparently Cejka finished his 3rd round on Saturday while some others had to come back on Sunday morning. After his dismal round he figured he didn't have a shot and left. He would have been out by the new cut rule reducing the 78+ player field to 70 and ties for the final round. But the tournament committee elected to waive the rule to speed up the start of round 4. That way he was back in and naturally guys like Alex need every buck they can get to keep their card.

I played that course somewhat unexpectedly 3 years ago - just before Katrina. At the time the rental clubs were a sweet all-Titleist bag including a Scotty putter.

The way they mentioned it on the broadcast, Jimmy Roberts was saying he had 2 year old irons and a 3 year old driver, emphasising like they were steel shafted persimmon things. Still not a bad score
