I apologize for the confusion. I'm talking about the white soft plastic placed around the german stainless steel insert. It was removed and there is now a deep cavity.
It's an easy fix actually.
here's a little background.......
The Insert is held in by Loctite and the 2 small metal screws on the back. And it is in there Tight. Unlike Tei3 Inserts which are easy to get out and require no heat. The Stainless inserts take some touch and heat to get them apart.
Back to replacing the elastomer......
If you like it as is- that's fine. Since it's stainless the head isn't going to rust or anything. So it is somewhat cosmetic.
Get some decent caulking from say Home Depot. No you don't need a caulk gun :-)
Depending on the caulking, it has different curing time and colors. You can fill it in yourself......don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Get in as deep as you can. Have plenty of paper towels at the ready. wipe off the excess. And let dry for a little while. An hour or so. Then wipe off the excess with some solvent like acetone.
If you mess up you can start over. Won't harm a thing. I've probably taken apart 100 of these.....and always works. Hope this helps.
