Does anyone know anything about Nashville, TN golf? I'm taking a weekend trip and want to play 36 on one day, and 18 the next morning. I'd like 3 different courses. Does anyone know of the upscale courses in the area?

THANKS

Well, if you want to play 36 in one day I would play the Hermitage golf courses. They have two great courses....President's Reserve and General's Retreat which are fabulous courses or at least they were last year when I played them.

I live in Nashville and am happy to help. Hermitage (President's Reserve) is the best local public course. The other course at Hermitage (Governor's) is a good course, but not as nice as President's. If you want to pull 36 in one day, this is definitely your best bet.

Springhouse at Opryland (now called Gaylord Springs) is kinda quirky, but nice. I think it is the most expensive green fee in town. Used to host a Senior event.

Another course I'd recommend is Greystone, which is about a half hour west of town in Dickson. It's a very good bang for the buck.

If you're in the mood for a drive, the Bear Trace at Ross Creek Landing is an hour and a half west of Nashville in the absolute middle of nowhere and is the best public course in the state.

If you'd like more info on any of these, or restaurant recommendations, etc, I'm glad to share my two-bit opinion.

I live about 30 minutes from Nashville and my home course is Five Oaks. It's on this list that I provide to everyone who asks about Nashville Golf.

I've played the Hermitage...fantastic golf course...decently long (if I remember correctly somewhere around 7200 from the tips...which we played! smile.gif) and a fun layout. I really enjoyed this course.

I live in Nashville and would recommend both Hermitage courses for your 36...

I would say that Opryland would be your choice for the other 18. The Bellsouth Senior Classic used to be played there. It is a good course with good greens.

Greystone is a tough course, it was designed by Mark McCumber. It penalizes you for good shots in the fairway with many sidehill/downhill lies.

Enjoy your stay in Nashville, we used to have some great public courses but they are all private now.

I'll have to keep an eye on this list.

Going to TN in April. Plan to fly into Memphis for some business, then drive to Nashvile for a wedding. I'll fly out of Nashville.

Haven't gotten flights done, but Golf Thursday when I fly in, or Friday after working may be the thing.....

Any and all thoughts from the locals would be appreciated.....

i too am from Nashville, and would also recomend Hermitage. its my favorite public course(s) here. the carts have GPS on them and the layouts are fun. the Presidents is much tougher than the Generals. the zoyza(sp?) grass is usually high and tough to get out of, and at different times of the year hard to even find your ball....the Generals is fescue and to combat the "easier" course there is much more sand on the Generals.

great great course, but pricey for public course....it was $72 for the presidents on a Sat last time i played there (needless to say, i dont play there often--usually once a year), i think the Generals was like $56

and someone mentioned 5 oaks, i assume that is the one in Lebanon...i thought it was private?
Legends was pretty nice and had a public and private side, but this year they made it all private.

Greystone is nice. it a links course and you will be amazed you are in virtually the middle of know where in Dickson TN...it used to be waaaaaaay overpriced when it first opened. $72 green fee....but than hey realized no one is going to go all the way out there and pay that. now its extremely reasonable

5 oaks is private and its my home course. pm me if you are from nashville and want to play with this hacker. half price for members guests on thursdays (25 + tax all day play with free range and cart)

HALF PRICE for a private course! That's SO cheap. The least expensive around Indy for private courses are 75-150, and they never cut rates.....I'M Moving!!

Tennessee and Alabama are both very affordable for golf.
