Here's a couple of Rife "TOUR" goodies. The first pics is the putter that was made for Justin Rose and given to him for winning the European PGA Tours Order of Merit. This Barbados was heavily polished and then given a finish called "torched'. The pictures really doesn't do the putter justice. The high gloss finish really appears gold in color. Really a beautiful putter in person. Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentNext is a putter made for Tommy "2 Gloves" Gainey. He's been using a Rife and wanted his Aussie to be a little different. They added a blue finish to his face and also some special stampings. The red on the sole is actually a reflection from the putter holders shirt.Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentBarbados with "santa fe" style neck and black finish that's actually called "rainbow". Again, the pictures don't do the finish justice. The black has an opalescense to it. Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentNext is a putter that's not quite Antigua or Aussie....but a blend. Aussie style head and Antigua neck...also in the "rainbow" finish.....Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentFinally more Cayman pics....plumbers neck style and sound slot like the one I have.
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentBig Lite Grips...making their way through the tour. Two Second Place finishes on the putters of Troy Matteson and Matt Kuchar. 85grams for the larger version and 75 for the smaller one. Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment

Wow, that black Barbados is what I want!! Just bought a center shafted one from the 'bay. I do wish it came with the black finish and white guide lines. That's what about the YES Hanna, the other putter I was looking at.
Would it be difficult to get the finish to make it black with white lines?

Again - pics of the Black Barbados!!!
I want that putter in a 34"!!! I called Rife a while back and there was no indication that these were going retail. Fools I say!!! They'd sell these to paying customers by the bucketload!
I'll never understand marketing by some companies!

Great pictures Reid. Muchos dankes for throwing them up.

Considering how I'm all sworn off new putters and whatnot, I'm especially glad to see that the Aussie-style head isn't paired up with one of those shaft-over hosels (sante fe or whatever), and in lefty. Tour, retail, misdemeanor, or felony...I'd have to get one.
Any idea of what more we can hope to see from Rife for the next bit? Any chance of a lefty Aussie-style head paired up with one of those shaft-over hosels?

You're right. I can't answer that question. I guess this company is afraid of making too much money.

Am I the only one who thinks Rife should be sued for their more than Nickently misleading "# 1 in customer service" claims?
That is some amazingly poor customer service going on there. I can understand that not everyone will be able to, or even wants to approach Ping's Wrx level of customization, but to be so dismissive and condescending...totally uncalled for. Upside is, I don't think I'll bother chasing down a putter that Rife I was thinking about. Ping was nice enough to make me a 350 gram Anser 4.

I am baffled why no companies release their mallet putters with the Santa Fe necks. They are making them all the time for tour guys. What makes them think that the rest of the public doesn't want them? I would love a Barbados with a santa fe neck. I wanted a 2-ball like Furyk's as well.
Thanks for the pics by the way. They were fantastic. Is there truth to the rumor that Rife will have a 8802 style head coming this year?

possibly...it is called the Abaco. Rife has enough designs to last them for the next 5 years if they wanted.

lol rife has iffy customer service, when i bought my barbados within a month the headcover broke, the magnets fell out so i emailed them and the guy said no problem we will send you two and a couple hats. a month and a half later i still had not got them and they would not answer my emails so my mom phoned them and the guy started going on about how they are so busy and its not their top priority and on and on
They do make great putters but the customer service is on and off i guess

Check my post..Troy Matteson and Matt Kuchar used them recently to record 2nd place finishes. The "thing" about the Big Lite grips is that they only weigh 75 and 85 grams. The Superstroke putter grip that KJ's using weighs 230grams. That's a big counterbalance you're adding to a putter. The Big Lite although still heavier then a regular grip will not affect the swingweight as much as the Superstrokes. YES putters has been offering the Big Lite grips also except it has the YES logo on them.

I think they outsource their Customer Service...I called to ask about the Cayman months ago...and specifically a tour model. The person I called got me in touch with "the company". Additionally, Danny's comment
"....I guess they are afraid of making money" tend to support the whole outsourcer claim.
In a time when Golf Companys are struggling, seems odd that not every company would bend over backwards....like Ping does.
I tried to order come climacool shirts for work give aways....and TMAG told me to call a rep, rep never called back after calling him 3 times.
Called Titleist to order some hats with my work logo on them, they told me to go through my club....

Not making excuses for poor customer service but I think Rife is currently a victim of their own success. I may be wrong but I think it's a company of maybe 15 employees. But in need of expanding.
BTW Danny has always responded in a friendly and efficient manner to any of my requests.

They have answered all of my questions when I call, not making a claim they don't do a good job. Perhaps just wishful thinking that we could get some of the customization (sp?) that Ping has.
The other point is that with the economy, I would think that all Golf OEM's would be stepping up their game with service....as golf purchases are discretionary for the majority of the population (not necessarily me or the other members here....these purchases are more of a necessity!!) Yes, I know that customization would cost more money and take more time.....but you have to spend money to make money...and Rife could be a major player in the putter market if they capitalize on what they have right now.
Would think it would only help exposure and sales! I have 2 of their putters and they are great.

All great points that I hope Rife is considering. But my impression from Danny was that Rife is exploding in popularity and it's difficult to for them to catch up. For such a small company I don't think they can expect to get to Ping's customization level right now. And to start comparing them to a boutique putter maker wouldn't be fair since they are doing a large volume of business for their company's size. They seem to be caught right in the middle.
But they have a nice problem that any small business would love to have. Too much demand! I don't blame them for making sure this venture was going to work before adding capacity. All the reasons (economy) you named above are why a conservative approach is the prudent play. Having too much capacity and not enough demand has killed many other companies.
But I think they'll get it going. The product is almost too good to mess it up (almost).

I read this entire thread yesterday and decided to wait a bit to formulate my answer for some of the comments here.
First, I'm not sure anyone should post private email replies for public consumption. The 'voice' of written matter can and often is mistaken. The time frame in which those private email replies from Danny Day were written was a crazy time at RIFE.
Danny Day is the head of our Customer Service department...of two. He is also our in house fitter and single handed is the reason we have the LPGA coming our way late in 2008. Danny is a young, former collegiate player and is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. Is it perfect....not by a long shot. But does he care, YOU BET.
Comparing RIFE customer service / custom department to PING is very flattering. RIFE may do just short of ten million in sales for 2008. They only make putters. What do you think the numbers at PING are?
Timing of product release is six to twelve months lag from final production sample approval to production arriving from the manufacturing plants in the far east. The putter business is cyclic and those up north right now aren't buying too many putters this time of year are they? The current 2009 lineup is in stores now ahead of the spring season. If your golf shop or golf retailer doesn't have RIFE have them give us a call.
I'll share this thread with Danny when we have dinner together Wednesday night. I'm hopeful we can get him to start posting here so you can all gain a bit of an understanding of just how outstanding he is in what he does.
