Ok, so I remember how a bunch of us got sick of this commercial last year where GP is standing in the bunker, but I decide that this year it will be different, they will have a new, better, less annoying commercial.
WRONG! Same damn commercial, played in probably 90% of the commercial breaks for the Tavistock Cup.
I don't even remember what company it is because it annoys me so much. Anyone still enjoying this one?

gary player is a tool...gary player is rumored to have cheated at the 74 british open...he hit a drive left on the 15th? hole on sunday and he supposedly had his caddy drop a ball...everyone was looking for it and couldnt find it and suddenly his caddy just happened to find it in a spot that did not match up with where the tv cameras thought the ball would be...just a rumor no hard evidence. also player always used to adress shots in the rough with a wood and then change to an iron...he would stamp the grass down behind the ball to improve his lie and then switch to an iron (which he intended to hit the entire time). tom watson called him out during the first skins game in 83 saying "gary we're gettin sick of this sh*t". the guy was a cheater...contrary to popular belief

Never liked him...never will.
Watson called him out during the Skins game. Remember how uncomfortable Nicklaus looked when it was going on?
And then, as I recall, Player ended up making a putt on the last hole to win, and did that "Popeye" like flex and looked to the sky like he'd just stole....I mean, won another British Open.
He is a huge phoney from the word go. And the steroids fiasco last year was the icing on the cake.
"I'm in better physical condition than most 40 year olds!" Hey Gary....nobody cares!!!
And now he's hung around long enough to break Arnie's record at the Masters in two weeks. If he were half the man Palmer is, he wouldn't show up.

I do not always like everything about Gary Player he has always been a bit intense for me. But how can you love golf and disrespect a man with this kind of record.
For him to say the more he practiced the luckier he got is the truth. He not only invented working out but has hit more practice balls than any man alive.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_PlayerGary player is living proof about what is great about our game. You do not have to be tall , naturally talented , or strong . You do not have to be born a great athlete.

Does everybody remember the movie Cocktail with Tom Cruise and Bryan Brown. Can you imagine a conversation between Doug Coughlin (Bryan Brown) and Gary Player.
Doug - What to drink mate?
Player - Scibby over ice, and a twist of peacock.
Doug - Scibby, eh. Haven't I seen you before?
Player - If you watched the 1961 Masters Tournament, then maybe you have.
Doug - Golfer, eh. Coughlin's law: Never watch golf, unless you can't sleep.

Nope I do not think he invented the four iron.
But he won nine majors including all four major championships how many people have done that
As a matter of fact how many people have won nine majors much less all four major championships
He has 24 PGA tour wins In addition to his wins on the PGA Tour, Player won more than 100 other tournaments in "regular", that is non-senior golf.
now he has nineteen champion tour wins
He pretty much invented working out for professional golfers ya think Tiger can thank him for that
All this from a man that is 5 foot seven inches and 150 lbs who just plain out worked the competition.
All this his career as one of the greatest players of the game that ever lived
So he can have a thread on this forum to be disrespected.
Not that Gary cares what some of you think but I do Maybe because I love and respect the game so much I can not imagine disrespecting one of its Icons.
