Does anyone know of a good place to look for information on ping putters? I know the ping website has info on all of their putters but I'm looking for more...like descriptions of the different anser/pal/zing/etc. putters, what is different about them and why.

I looked all over the internet and can't find anything and figured that there has to be something since they were/are rather popular as well as sometimes collectible.

Thanks.

Thanks...that had more information than I have been able to find so far. Anyone else know of any sites?

I think I know what you're looking for, but it doesn't exist.
Part of the problem is that back in the day Ping had nearly 100 different putter designs. Karsten Solheim came up with design ideas , making molds, and offering the putter. Since Ping did their own production the company produced the putters only when retailers placed orders, so Ping did not run the risk of too much inventory. The only cost to Ping was in making a new mold, and Karsten was willing to go ahead and make a new mold if he thought the new design made sense. This is how Ping came to offer lots of putter models. There were some wild designs.
Pings website has a "classic putter" section which still has photos of lots of the old designs, but not any written description about the design concept. In reality, though, only a handful of putter designs were sold in any sort of volume quantity.
The Anser 2, the B60, the Pal 2, and the Zing are Ping's most well known putter designs.
Back in the day Ping offered putters in bronze, stainless steel, copper, and for a short while, nickel.
Most of the putters were offered in the bronze or steel or copper, or two out of three. Nickel was a distant fourth as that material was more of an experiment which Ping only sold for a few years. It turned out the nickel was too soft sounding and dinged up too easily for most players taste.
Eventually the copper and nickel were discontinued because of environmental hazardous waste issues. The bronze has gone out of fashion these days. The newer model Ping putters are steel with various bead blast media finishes.

Thank you for the information.

I was looking at the classic putters page on ping.com and that is what started me looking for this. It just seemed weird to me that a company like ping doesn't offer more 'marketing' (or historical info) for their putters. For example, if you click on stainless B60 you see 1 picture of it from behind...and if you click the more info button, it tells you available in RH,LH. What about dimensions, weight, why/how he came up with this design???? He must have said something about the design when he first created it...didn't anyone at that company ever write anything down???? Even a little paragraph for each style (i.e. ansers, zings, etc.) that gives you some info as to why one is an anser and the other an anser 2. Sorry for the rant....but I would think that a company as popular as Ping would have more information about them somewhere.

Also, with all of the useless information on the internet, nobody has an unofficial Ping putter page???? Even if it is only for collectors or collectible styles??? I guess if I ever decide to make a web page, I know what it can be about....now I just need to find all of the information somewhere.
