Yes. I'm in Amsterdam, NY. What course do you have in mind in Albany? JAT, Capital Hills is always in great shape after the Futures Tour rolls through (September).

Saratoga National is beautiful in the Fall; but it aint cheap.
I'll tell ya; Orchard Creek in Altamont is a real gem and very affordable. It's about 20 minutes West of Albany.
I'd be interested.

I second both comments. I love Orchard Creek. I play there a ton. SNGC is also a great track but pricey.

I'd possibly be interested in coming over from Syracuse depending on work schedule. Any thoughts on perhaps holding it at Turning Stone (maybe too expensive?) so as to make it a little closer for those in the Central and western part of the state?

I'd be down for something a little closer to Syracuse. Albany is about a three and a half hour drive for me. Syracuse is under two hours. I've heard good things about Turning Stone. Some friends and I plan to go up there this year.
If I remember right, they have two courses, one which costs over $200 to play, and one that's closer to $100. The cheaper of the two would be my preferance, lol.

Actually there are three courses and it looks like they raised their greens fees for '08. Atunyote is a Tom Fazio design where they play the PGA tournament, it's $250. Then there is the Kaluhyat which is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design and the hardest of the bunch, it's $150 before 2PM and $100 after (special low low price of only $75 from July 1 to 6). The first course they built was Shenendoah which is a Rick Smith design and costs the same as Kaluhyat. Those prices are for non-resort guests. Greens fees for those staying at the resort are about $25 less.

I'm in Rochester and might be interested in something @ TurningStone. I'd love to head out to Albany, but 4.5 hrs would be quite a hual for A round. Maybe someone in C. NY should set something up for those who can't quite swing the longer trek.

Hey guys, sorry a little off topic but you guys from Rochester...I live in Toronto but wife's family lives in Henrietta, so when I am down in the summer I am always looking for a game. Would you guys be interested if I pm'ed you next time I am down in the summer? I've played, World Woods, Ravenwood, MillCreek but I'd be willing to play other tracks.

I will be interested in playing, specially near Albany. I just moved to East Greenbush and need help assistance with courses in the area. I am looking for something not to expensive but not a cow pasture either. Any suggestions, Evergreen GC is close to my house but have not heard anything about it.
thanks for the guidance

msnchez, I live right in schodack and my office is right aroundthe corner of evergreen. I know the owner Joe Bove quite well. The "public" course is open all year $17.00 and the "private" course is just opening up now "$23.00". The public is like a jambed little muni but the private is well laid out with a island green on 15. It is in need of retopping on the brick-hard greens but you cant beat the price. I would be happy to show you around if you like. Also 15 min away is Burden Lake CC, Where I play my league on tuesday nights. Much better track, fantastic layout, really tough (hardest in the capital area) and quite hilly but always rewarding. Its hard to get to if you dont know the way but once again I would be happy to show you around. Also keep in mind $25 wedsdays include cart fee. Drop me a private email. I was just playing at evergreen on tuesday.

Ok back on subject. Its fantastic you out-of-towners would like to come. If we get enough interest, I will start to set things up. It will for sure be in Albany and at this point I am leaning towards Orchard Creek and Capital Hills. Orchard is routed through a real working Apple orchard and is great fun toward august-sept when you can eat from the trees as you go... and is just a wonderful layout for the price ($40.00 with cart). Capital Hills is the Albany muni and is a good track, can get a little brown in the middle of summer but looks great when the girls make their way through in Sept. It too is very inexpensive has a great clubhouse and would work out. I love saratoga national and turning stone both but I think the $200.00 greens fees will turn lots of people off( though if more than a foursome would make a go of it, you could count on me as well.) I was trying to do something simple and cost efective just to try and get as broad a sampling of members as possible involved. for out of towners, there are tons of goodcourses here, all well priced and worthy of a second day(our hotels are cheap as well) Try to keep this thread going and anyone interested please reply on the thread as it is what I will use to contact you all when we get closer to an actual event. as i see it, we need at least 12-16 to make it worth the effort.

Just saw this thread, sorry to dig it up.
I'd be down for something. I actually work at Orchard Creek so I'm ready for that! Capital Hills is my second favorite track in the area, I have a couple of close friends who work there also. Every time I played it last year the greens were rolling smooth and true. You really can't go wrong either way.
Just let me know if and when this is going to happen so I can get the day off. I'd rather be playing with you guys than washing your carts and picking your balls off the driving range

And yeah, 'toga national looks like a great track (with an awesome clubhouse, had prom at it) but it is sooo expensive.

I'm a new member on this site. Could you give me some background on a Golfwrx event? I'd also be interested in something at Turning Stone or even the Rochester area.
Thanks!
