I have been an avid golfer all my life and I'm always trying to make my swing perfect like tiger or els. Then I came to the realization that it's going to take years and years of practice and a whole lot of money in video tapping and professional help. I've recently have been reading books about the mental aspect of golf. I feel that the last year of golf has been the most sucessful due to thinking or not thinking on the golf course. I recommend four books that I have help me more then any lesson I have taken.

David Pelz Short Game Bible
Dr. Bob Rotella Golf Is Not A Perfect Game
Dr. Bob Rotella Putting Out Of Your Mind
Dr. Bob Rotella The Golfers Mind: Play To Play Great

The david pelz book is a instructional book but from the little minor changes in my short game I have been able to lower my handicap a whole lot. But for the Dr. Bob Rotella he is strickly mental.

If there are any books that you would love to share with me that would be great. Thnx

David Breslow's "Wired to Win" is also good.

Really want to get better?
Don't try to swing like anyone. Build a solid, repeatable swing, and learn to play the game.
The ranges are full of people with great looking swings that can't score...they never learned the game. Golf swing/ Golf. Two different animals.

Zen Golf by Joseph Parent. I have been reading this book over the past few weeks and it has changed my mental game totally. My putting and overall game have improved since I started reading this book. In the next year I see my game going to higher levels because of a new mental perspective.

That's a very good point. I've seen some godawful swings and those same guys would beat me like a drum because they were phenomenal inside of 100 yards. Of course, it always made me feel good knowing I had a prettier swing when I was giving them $15 because I lost front, back and total vava.gif

Hey Clip!

In my humble opinion, I think golf is a ton like everything else in the world. Think of those people in your life who are most successful. Not just in the golf world but everything.....co-workers, bosses, buddies, etc...
My guess is that they all have some kind of a system. A system that they stick to. On the outside looking in, you may be able to critisize the way they do things but the bottom line is that for some reason it still works.
The same holds true for golf....to improve your game you have to develop a system and then stick to it. In 2004 VJ had an AWESOME year..when asked what his secret was he replied something like.....I've just been doing the same exact thing for the last two years and it's finally paying off. VJ was going through the same exact routine everyday for two years!!! He put together a system, stuck to it and BAM! He overtook Tiger Woods, a feat that no-one had accomplished in years.

It's all about a system.....what that system is, well, that's up to you ;-)

Take Care,
Bart
