I'll be in Palm Desert next summer for a convention. Staying at the Marriott Desert Springs right in the heart of golf heaven. I know the temps are brutal but I still want to play. Would appreciate some tips from anyone who lives in that area or has played there in the summer . I've played in vegas in July and as long as you stayed hydrated and got a little shade, it was fine.

The same rules apply to Palm Desert as they would to Vegas. Stay hydrated, stay in the shade when possible, you should do ok. A hat and sunscreen is pretty good to have also, if not a must. If you can, try to get out as early as possible. I used to live there, so I know the terrain. I'm going out there to play this summer for a week around the 4th of July. The heat can be tough, but its not that oppressive.

I used to live in the California Central Valley and I played every day in the summer when it was 105+ degrees.
There's a lot you can do to make it more comfortable, but eventually you just get used to it. Much of the advice above was right on.
I used to take a small towel (like a washcloth) and wet it down and put it on the back of my neck when I was walking if the heat really bothered me. Or I used to just dump water in my hat.

Tee off before 7am.
Drink a half a glass of water on every tee box.
Wear a visor (not a hat).
If it's over 108, stay indoors.

Wear light colors and have a wet towel to put on your neck between shots. Learned this from lots of golf in 100*+ heat

I like to keep a dry towel for sweat and extra gloves of you wear them.

Always drink no less than one cup of water per beer. Also, grease up the stones before hand, it's not fun playing golf when the boys are on fire.
