Has anyone tried to use a tennis overwrap over a putter grip? Does it work? Is it legal?

I have. It worked but I didn't like the raised edges where I overlapped the grip each time around. For tennis I like it because the raised areas help me grip the racquet better, adding more spin. For golf, it just didn't feel right. Not sure if it is legal or not.

i did a putter with a yonex super grap and agree with HMA above, just didn't like the raised edges. maybe if you pulled the over grip super tight it might work better. you also have to watch it from being damaged in your bag. throwing it in and pulling it out of you bag can cause it to unwrap easily.

I have, and it has worked excellent, just a bit of athletic tape to secure the end.

I've been doing it for 15 years. You can wrap them on top of each other if you want to build it up. To keep the butt end from unraveling, I wrap electrical tape at the top just below the end of the grip. It feels great, it's cheap, and you can change colors regularly. A single wrap job should last a full season no problem.
