Is the top-flat part of the grip (where thumbs are placed) fairly wide or is it narrow?
I am looking for a grip where the flat part is wide enough to let thumbs rest flat.
wjdpar1
extremely narrow.

It's narrow compared to a lot of grips I've seen but my hands just seem to fall into place with the Fingerlock I have on my Anser 3. More so than with any other grips I have.

Do you grip the putter with both thumbs flat on the top flat part of the grip ?
Or, do you have the thumbs canted to the side a little bit ?

This thread might help you ...there are several pics I included comparing the Fingerlock with a Iomic Midsize

Pitbull,

I did a search for fingerlock before starting this thread. Your photos were a help. I'm still not sure what this grip is about, hard to tell from the photos since the grip is black and its angles don't photograph well. I went ahead and ordered a new Ping putter with the fingerlock grip, hope I like it. In the past I've had Ping putters with their basic Pingman plain grip, one spiral wrap type grip. Years ago I also briefly tried what I think is an earlier version of the Ping palm lock grip, but it was too extreme and I didn't care for it.

Divot, are you using a fingerlock grip on a Ping putter now? What model ?
I did the webfit on Ping's site and it recommended either a fingerlock or palmlock grip, so I'm going to try a fingerlock on a B60.

Mine is on a Anser 3. I've got fairly big hands and the Fingerlock fits me perfect.

I've been trying the Ping finger lock.
How long did it take you to get used to yours ?

I got used to mine almost immediately. I had one of those Ping wrap grips on the putter when I bought it and knew it was too small for me. As soon as I got the Fingerlock on there I knew it was the right move. Hope it works for you.

How did you find out about the finger lock grip ?
I don't believe this grip is one that Ping designed in as "standard" on any of their putters, and retailers mostly just order their Ping stock with whatever Ping is selling as the standard grip of the time (these days it's mostly colorful WINN grips).
Anyway, the finger lock has such an unusual shape to it that I expect some of those who tested it out and quickly dismissed it as "too weird".
Thus far I've put in about 4 hours of practice time with mine, and it still feels a awkward. But that's o.k. It took me a full year to get comfortable swinging upright lie angle irons.
I'm going to give the finger lock at least 6 rounds of golf and another few hours of practice time to give it a fair shot.
I understand the design concept behind it, the functional benefits the unique shape is supposed to offer.
