We spent a few days there for our Honeymoon. You're going to love it!!!

I remember Huggo's having great food.

Depends on what side of the island you are staying. If you are staying on the Hilo side, there are not too many options. There is the Muni and about 40 minutes away is Volcano.

If you are staying on the Kona side, you will have alot of options. Kona Country Club has two nice courses. Then there are Makalei and Big Island Country Club. If you have significant funds, any of the resort courses will suit the bill. Mauna Lani, Hapuna, Waikoloa have great courses.

Eats on the Kona side. There are the usual fares, Bubba Gump, Outback and such. Huggos has a nice lunch menu. I am not usually there in the evenings so I am not sure about dinner locations.

PM me and I can get you in a game or two. I live in Hilo but play all over the island. Which side are you going to? The Muni is OK but plan on playing a six hour round. Volcano is my home course and is usually in good shape but they just punched the greens so it is kinda rough. The other side has much better courses but being a tourist, they are going to kill you on the rates...The Beach and Kings course in Waikaloa are both great but VERY expensive. The Village course is a good one for reasonable. The Kona country club courses are both pretty good but again are expensive. Mauna Lani and Hapuna are both nice as well...

I know that the OP's vacation is long over, but just for other people who are interested:
Waikoloa Beach is really worth the money, just because of some beautiful views. It is not so expensive, if you stay at the Resort just for one night. And while you're there, you could have a delicious dinner right next to the ocean at the Kamuela Provision Company. It's one of the restaurants in the Hilton Waikoloa resort, and one of the best I have ever been to, anywhere in the world.
If you want a totally relaxed round on a nice no-nonsense golf course: Waimea Golf Club.
Oh my, writing about it makes me wish to be on Big Island again.

I'd say Kukio, Nanea or Hokulia. However, they are almost impossible to get on to unless you know someone.
