My buddies and I are planning a golf trip this summer to celebrate one of the travelers 30th birthday. I am been put in charge of planning the destination, but am finding the options a little overwhelming. There are 8 of us that enjoy playing golf, but want to make sure there is some kind of night life as well. I am just trying to find some recommendations of any places anyone may have gone that they would recommend. I think I have narrowed it down to Mesquite, Lake Tahoe, Summit Co. Colorado and Myrtle (as it seems the top resorts are demanding quite a bit of cash) but am open to anything. Any info anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Mesquite is good, but if you can afford to throw around a little more dough- Vegas Baby!!

You should be able to get some decent rates for the summer months because its gonna be hot and no one else will be playing.

Once you get your destination set look on http://www.vrbo.com/ for lodging. You can find some really good deals renting private vacation homes. We took a golf vacation to Destin and stayed in a house for $1600 a week. We had Santa Rosa Beach golf course in the back yard, the neighborhood pool in the front yard and the beach was a 1/2 mile down the road.

I've been planning a similar trip for this May - golf and nightlife. Ended up choosing Scottsdale. I've never been, but the nightlife is wild, based on others' experiences. Got a couple of suites within walking distance of Old Town and a lot of nightlife, and we'll drive to play golf. Search something like "Scottsdale golf" online. No shortage of resources. Good luck

Edit: OK, just noticed Scottsdale isn't on your short list. Anyway, meets your reqs. if you re-consider.

MyrtleBeach is good for a guys trip - lots of golf and lots of bars. A nice option is www.wilddunes.com. Great courses, resort etc and the city is only 15-20 minutes away.
You get a golf/beach/city vacation in one!

The list of destinations was just what I had compiled today...I wouldn't rule out Scottsdale as I have played some golf out in the Phoenix area. Every course I have played was always in great condition! Thanks for the feedback!

I appreciate all the responses.....seeing no one mentioned anything about Lake Tahoe I may eliminate that place. Just looking at it, it appears to be pretty expensive to swing the sticks there...especially if you want to play 36 each day!

Go to the Grand Cypress web site down in Orlando, FL. They have GREAT summer rates, a wonderful practice range, use of the Academy of Golf and the villas are a 3 minute walk to the clubhouse or a bus ride if you wish. Then you have the night life of downtown Disney or downtown Orlando, the ESPN Zone at the Disney Boardwalk and a whole lot of other stuff. Check out http://www.grandcypress.com. I've stayed there a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. Book the villas. welcomeani.gif

Prices in Mesquite will be low in the summer but expect 110+ degree temps in July and august, the night life is limited to mostly casino action with some bars and one or two clubs in the casinos, the golf courses are great, make sure and play Wolf Creek if you go there and take the 30 min drive to St. George Utah and play the Ledges it will be a few degrees cooler there like maybe only 105.

Depends on when you want to go, but Palm Springs (La Quinta, Westin, Marriott, etc) has unlimited play and stay packages for about a C-note/night starting in June thru August. Eight of us has done this ten years going for eleven this year, 9/3-9/6.

Have a fun time.

The summer rates in Florida are great, def have to consider that. On a side note can all of you snow birds please leave so I can go back to paying next to nothing for a round of golf mad.gif
