So I've been working on writing some software for the golf geek community and I wanted to touch base with people to get a feel for some of the things they would like to see "if" they were to buy a piece of software. Here are some of the things I'm thinking about that may or may not make it into the first version. I'd love to hear some other ideas as well.
  • New course entry including multiple tee types, grass types, location, designer, year built, etc.
  • New round entry including per shot club selection, shot shape, distance, result, etc.
  • Round statistics viewing based on multiple criteria like club/set used, certain courses, certain types of round (tourney, non), etc. Lots of different types of stats but I'd love to hear what ones people would love to see as well.
  • Practice entry of what you practiced, how, and when.
  • A timeline view so you can correlate certain changes in your game over time to practice, club changes, etc.
  • Exporting your stats to the internet so others can compare. Also allowing you to subscribe to each others stats.
  • etc.
This is going to be an application that runs on your computer and would have a really usable interface. I'd love to hear some comments on things people would love/like to see if they were to go for something like this. Basically I know I'm asking you to give me some ideas but at the same time this is the type of community that this application would serve so who better to ask.

Thanks, for listening ... I look forward to hearing peoples comments.

P.S. Look for an closed beta test to be announced in the near future as I get closer to filing off the rough edges.

Gametracker seems to be the best package going right now. I would say that any new package would have to be web accessible.

Well, my audience is definitely different than theirs. I for one hate all of the online sites where you enter all of your information. The interfaces aren't easy to use and when I want to quickly enter information from my computer and then start comparing data I have zero control over it when it's online. Then it never fails, they go under or start changing costs on you and your hozed. In the end the key you have to understand is that they own your data.

I want to offer people more, a nice interface, very configurable, and at the same time you own your data. You see it where and when you want to and can choose to share it with others if you want.

Thanks for the feedback ... I appreciate it.

I just use microsoft excel to keep track of my stats in a chart. Plus its cheaper than having to buy anything.
