My Wife and I were doing some shopping and I bought three hats. She asked why I needed three hats?. I said a black hat for when I wear black shorts/pants, a white hat for when I wear white/stone shorts/pants and a khaki hat for when i wear khaki shorts/pants. She laughed and commneted it's just golf not a fashion show. Rather than get in a long explanation I just went about my busines.

I like to match things up, Black hat, black shorts/pants, black shoes/white/black saddle shoes..etc. I believe you match your headwear with your pants/shorts. I am not a big fan of wearing a red hat with a red shirt for example. I am big on coordinating my belt and shoes..and so on. My thought is if you like the way you look you will perform better. I play with guys that could care less and play just fine, but it makes a difference to me.

This brings me to my question do you conciously coordinate your golf apparel? If so how and if not why?

You're not crazy.

For me it's shoes and belt. They have to match, period. My white shoes have thick (black) rubber outsoles, so I wear a black belt with them.

My hats usually match some portion of my wardrobe, but I don't go as far as you with the hat-pants/shorts matchups.
Ask her why her handbags have to match her shoes, or why she can't wear a yellow belt with orange stilettos. She'll get the point.

Only three hats, jeez- I have three Titty hats all the same style but different color, about a dozen other golf hats and 5 visors plus 2 beanies. Can't wear striped shirts with the plaid hurley or billabong shorts. No brown belt when I wear the black shoes (yes, I have black, brown and white shoes/belts) and the hat doesn't have to match anything (some contrast is good).

I used to wear just about whatever, but I married a gal 8 years ago who used to get on my a$$ for wearing some of the things I wore. Now I don't buy the cheaper shirts and she gives me the 'eye' whenever I glance at the table at costco that has some ping, cally shirts or 'golf style' shirts.

well it is always khakis for me or blue shorts pants I model my wardrobe after dlIII god what I wouldnt give for his sponsorships titty and polo pure class.

so for me it is white shoes white belt black shoes black belt brown shoes brown belt.

I also have the matching shoe/belt combos and I wear khaki color hats with neutral earth tone shirts/stone shorts. I wear navy hats when I am wearing blue shorts or a shirt with blue in the combo. I only wear black in the colder months because even in 50-60 degree weather the black hat attracts to much sun and I tend to overheat.

I have multi colored hats to match just about any color I plan on wearing that day. multiple color belts and shoes so that every thing looks tidy. Not to the extreme of Sergio but I like look like I can golf... lol.

Only three hats that day!..LOL

I have multiple hats and visors typically one of each of the main colors. Black, white, khaki, and blue. I never wear multi-colored hats example (khaki base with blue bill ) allways solid color. Shirts are typically Polo, Nike Golf TW or a few Callaway.
Bomb and Gouge
Every shirt I have matches every pair of shorts/pants I have so there's not much to coordinate.

And I really couldn't care less if my hat doesn't match. I also not into accessorising w/ belts and stuff either.

Polo is my 1st choice too. Shirts anyway, I have a few pairs of the golf pants for work, but prefer an Izod pant to play in.

the prospect pant is for me cheap easy to clean and nice although The fairway pant is onsale for 39.99 near me.

hat, shoes, and belt always match.
pshyeah
I wear alot of plaid and striped pants, so generally the shirt will match the color of the pattern, not the pant color. Belt, hat and shoes are usually same color. Never a white shirt with khakis, or white shirt with black pants, unless there's a vest.

Just wondering where you can find those plaid pants in like a straight fit because i'm young so I don't want to look like an old man.

I am of the opinion that the hat does not need to match...just my view. I usually wear a brown straw hat like Norman used to wear, and I am not going to own 3 different colors of a hat like that.
pshyeah
Haha, yeah I'm young too. Actually lifestyle brands are good for the pants. American Eagle made the ones I wear mostly, but also brands like Banana Republic has made some nice styles, and then you can go to the upper echelon, i.e. Burberry.
rodto3rd
Like an above poster stated...billabong makes some great plaid shorts; not to mention some polos as well.
tbowles411
I ALWAYS match. Head to toe. Usually even companies, except for the shoes. I always wear Adidas.
Mtngolfer1
I look at it this way take pride in your appearance, take pride in your game. Thats not to say that someone who is less fashion conciouse can play good golf. I just feel I play better when I like what I am wearing.

I like the Polo Golf collection, I like many of the Nike shirts and have started to wear more of the new Callaway stuff. I like players like Jonathan Byrd, DLIII, and Luke Donald. These guys always look put togeather on the course. I can often go business casual and with no or little change play 18 the same day.

For me it's the hat matching the plants/shorts belt matching the shoes and a shirt that works with both.

I own about 7 different golf appropriate hats (Titleist, Cobra, a couple of Scotty hats) in various colors to ensure my attire always cooridnates. I prefer the classic black shorts/pants with my Adidas powerbands (white and black) with either a black striped polo, white striped polo or bright solid matched with a black or white cap. I'll go with a colorful cap to accent the stripes in my black or white polo.
I'm trying to venture out (as I've always been a fan of Poulter's attire) but it'll be baby steps before the www.loudmouthgolf.com pants.
Zoiks!
DBake
Usually light top with dark shorts/pants or dark tops with light shorts/pants.
Golfman21X
Hahahaha funny that I see this topic....I have around 15 golf hats mostly Titleist but I have Callaway, Cobra, Nike and other ones from courses I've visited. Everyone thinks I'm crazy cus I pretty much have a specific hat for every shirt I own ....
