I will be in Hilton Head march 22-26 (first time there) and want to get in a couple of rounds. Any suggestions where to play that is under $200/round?

thanks

Hilton Head National located just off the bridge in Bluffton, SC. Gary Player signature course, always in fantastic shape.

RTJ Course at Palmetto Dunes is phenomenal. Ocean Front Par Five 10th hole is beautiful.

Oyster Reef is another great option. It is a Reese Jones design located in Hilton Head Plantation. Most beautiful Par 3's (#6 and #16) on the Island. With the exception of Harbour Town of course.

Can't go wrong with any of those 3 and they are all well within your price range.

Not sure of the price nowadays, but I'd take a trip to Dafuskie Island and play Melrose and Bloody Point. Definitely worth the trip (or at least it was several years ago when I played them).

I've been down there twice and played HH National and Oyster Reef each time. Very cool yet challenging tracks. Avoid Old South though, I wasn't impressed at all. Enjoy!!

ARe you a member of a club at home? If so, have your pro give a call to a few of the pro's at some private tracks around HHI. The best are going to be Long Cove, Belfair, Colleton River....maybe Oldfield, but a bit off of the island.
If not, Oyster Reef, HH National and The Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Dunes.

HH National is nice.
The courses at Sea Pines. I think you can get onto Harbortown for under 2 bills during twilight hours. )used to be after 1p or 2p).

A couple of my favorites have been HH National, as previously mentioned, along with CC of Hilton Head (nice old school design) and the Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Hall.

Another vote for HH National. Nice track and good conditions.

I'm glad to see Oyster Reef getting some props, I think it's one of the unsung gems of HHI. Hilton Head National is always a good choice as is Arthur Hills Palmetto Dunes. Do some checking around at Sea Pines & Palmetto Dunes and see if they have any multi day packages available. I got a 2 round package on Sea Pines a few years ago that included one round on Harbour Town for less than $200 I think. If you get a chance, play Harbour Town. It was good before the renovation but now it's even better.

Country Club of Hilton Head is a great place, Can't go wrong with Sea Pines, that new Heron Bay course is said to be highly worth the money, and also the Arthur Hills at Palmetto is another

Wow...I am surprised by the Arthur Hills love. I absolutely thought that was the most overrated track I've ever played anywhere. There was absolutely no challenge to that course and the views were less than spectacular. On the other end, Old South (who someone said stay away from) had some of the best views of any course I played there. You constantly were winding around the Sound and played into several island greens that you took a bridge to get onto the green...and, all for under $60/person. Hilton Head National was another course I was impressed with.

A track that isn't mentioned here (I don't think) that is still pretty new is Hampton Hall. You aren't going to play there for water views, but it is the toughest track we played by far. Over 7000 yards from the tips.

My favorite public access courses around HHI are Old South, HH National, Palmetto Hall (either course) and Oyster Reef.

There are a lot of great courses there. cool.gif

Belfair is great if you can get on. I hated Arthur Hills but I sucked even worse then....the only place I EVER wanted to throw my clubs into the weeds or water.
