My parents and I are going to Ft. Worth to help my brother pick out a new house, and my dad and I are going to try to play some golf......we have been down there several times, and was wondering if there are some courses we should hit up.

We have played the following

Fossil Creek
Colonial (I am a PGA Assistant, pulled some strings)
Texas Star

We will play Fossil Creek again, we both like that track....

Any suggestions????

Thanks in advance
meroj
For what it's worth, I'm not from the DFW area, but I go there on business. Last year we played Indian Creek which is a little north of Dallas. I thought it was a nice 36 hole facility and not real expensive if I remember correctly.

You might want to pull some more strings and play Mira Vista in sw Ft Worth . Awesome course .

Tour 18, any one played here, is it as good as the website leads people to believe???

I played out at Tour 18 a few weeks ago and it was in decent shape....the greens were nice & fast. We played on a Sunday and it was a nice liesurely 6-hour round!!!! It's really a pretty good course and fun layout, but this time of the year it is not the best looking course.

I would go with one of the courses that overseed the fairways - Cowboys or Indian Creek to name a couple.

I think you ment to say that Grapevine has 27 holes not Cowboys.

I would also add Waterchase golf course to the list. It is just east of Ft. Worth on I-30 and Eastchase.

Southside of Ft. Worth

Southern Oaks
Tierra Verde

Northside

Fossil Creek
Doral Tesoro
Sky Creek
Texas Star

Central

Hawks Creek

West

White Stone

East

Waterchase

That should cover most areas, just depends on how far you want to drive from where you're staying.

Texas Star, for sure, 5 star track I dont think there are too many of those around there, enjoy

personally, i think its overated and overpriced. i will admit i haven't played it in almost a year, but my last 3 trips were so terrible that i've given up on it. i played 6 months after they replaced the greens and they were terrible. bunkers were heavily eroded and i just felt the course was up to the standard that a couse like this should be. i also had to replace my cart 5 times during 36 holes. for the money, there are much better courses.

I played Texas Star last weekend -- the greens were in great shape. Still, one of the better courses in the area.

Avoid Lantana Golf Club for now -- they're almost finished renovating the bunkers and the bermuda greens are fairly trampled -- give it a month when growth starts and the bunkers are finished -- and things should be fine again - actually better than before -- as the bunkers will have soft white sand in all of them.

Tour 18 - haven't played it recently - I always come away from that course thinking it was kind of fun but not memorable.

From a couple of friends -- Cowboys greens last weekend were bad. Avoid and check on greens depending on when you go.

Buffalo Creek - nice course, greens were fine but shaggy -- far too far east to travel if you're around Ft. Worth.

I would say if your up in the area of Cowboy to just skip it and drive just down the road to Grapevine Muni. You can't beat the price and the course and the facilities will rival most private clubs in the ares
