Thought I would make this thread so that people can get an idea of what memberships cost in different parts of the world.
Please list:
1. Your course name and where it is located
2. Adult Male / Adult Female / Junior / Senior
3. How much $$$ you pay for your membership per season / lifetime / etc...

I will go first. I just moved to Alberta (here in Canada) not so long ago and have been looking for a course. There is a decent course close to me but it's $9000.00 for a lifetime membership and I don't have that kind of cash to drop, especially since I won't be living here all my life. So looks like I will be joining a nice little 9hole course for $475/season.
1. Acme Golf Club (9 hole course). The course itself is located in Acme, approx. 20 minute drive North of Calgary.
2. Adult Male
3. $475.00 per season

i'm seriously considering the country club across the street cos it very convenient but it's a bit expensive. the membership costs $170,000-175,000 with monthly dues at $90. but it does boast 4 x 18-hole course and one 9-hole course, full club facilities (bowling, pool, gym, theater, numerous restaurants ..and two ranges ie.the works). my current club is a ex-military club (also with the works) and i have a term of 10 years which cost me just $4000, with monthly dies of $20. but it's a term and it expires with no residual value.

I am a member of Canongate Golf Clubs in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. You can see thier website at www.canongategolf.com.
They are in a time of large expansion buying up many clubs in the area and in S.C. and Houston under Sequioa Golf Company. So their prices have gone up this season but still a very good deal.
Family yearly membership - usd $1500.00 p/year to have access to approx 15-19 clubs. Average cost p/round weekday $8.00-10.00 plus usd $14.00 cart fee. Weekend a little higher.
If you do not want to pay fees everytime - for approx usd $3000.00 p/year - for your home area courses.

Membership at gleneagles, looking at about £2.5K But thats with 3 18 holes courses(and another in the works), a 9 hole par3 course(solid as a rock, shoot par round there consistently and you are a serious player!) pitch and putt and the best practice facilities in the area.

Kings Forest here in Hamilton, Ontario. The 2008 fees will be $1,700.20. Why the $.20?

King's Forest is one of the
BEST courses in the region, and is very easily one of my favourites. Over 7100 yards off the tips...how much more could you possibly want? Played it last July...OMG the
WORST conditions EVER!!! With rerouting the Red Hill Creek throughout the course (for construction of the nearby Red Hill Expressway)...most of the irrigation lines were cut. Resulting in NO WATER. Didn't help that we had an extremely hot & dry summer. Course was like concrete...everywhere! I may has well of tee'd it up on the Q.E.W. It was a shame to see such a fantastic course, in such poor shape. Hope they can bring it back to life for you in '08. Being a public course, I've found it's conditions over the years to vary. Most times great...other times...not.
The .20 must be a penalty of sorts...just 'cause you live in Hamilton...

Those numbers are so cheap.....I'm assuming a lot of public courses in there?
When I played at our nicer public courses ($80-120 green fee) memberships ran about $3100/year.
Our private courses generally run from 10-35k for the share, 10-15k for the transfer, $3300-4500/year in green fees (single), with a $600-800 spending minimum (which gets spent pretty easily anyways).

Actually, the rerouting had nothing to do with the Red Hill Expressway as it was done to curtail erosion of the exisiting creek bed and create new fish habitat. Conditions were much better later in the year.

I just cannot justify the cost of dropping $10,000/year to golf maybe 30 times.

Something like this would be good for all involved.

I agree with you that it's a nice program. Downingtown and Bucks County have a similar deal as well since they are owned (at least for now) by the same company.
I'm not sure, however, how many other clubs, if any will follow suit.

I would not be shocked to see more and more of the same in the future. Clubs are all struggling like crazy to generate revenue, so if they offer members a change of pace now and then as long as the distance is not too far people will be more likely to keep the memberships.
Not to mention guys in sales like myself can go call on customers that may not be local to their own course and have access to top quality golf and conditions.
Some course belong to a deal call reciprocal golf, the program does what I mentioned above at a failry reasonable fee.

SW Mich is hard to beat in general, but our membership is particularly difficult to compare. Everytime I see a public course in similiar condition in other states the membership rates and daily fees are considerably more than what we pay. Not to mention that we have 2 courses, 45 holes total. It's not a country club ... but great conditions and tournaments for what we pay.

That would be correct. I was a member at Brandywine for several years and we had access to Penn Oaks, Cavaliers and Whitford as part of our membership.....you would be surprised how little you actually use it. I think I played each club maybe twice and that was because we were closed for a redesign.
