If your in a hazard either water or sand and the ball moves are you required to replace it? Say the ball is on dry ground in a red hazard but on water's edge you step in to take a stance and it rolls into water what is the ruling? or sand?

i believe you play it as lies, if it rolls in the water, it's in the water. someone will paste the rule in here.

If it is in play or you are attempting to play it and you cause it to move, 1 stroke and replace the ball.

If it moves on it's own not due to something you did, play it as it lies.

If it's in the hazard (lateral, water, etc)...that's a good question. I guess if you caused it to move, then decided to drop per the rules of whatever hazard it was, it would be the same stroke penalty (1 stroke) and you would drop it in potentially a better spot not in the hazard.

Sure there's some more learned rules folks out there that can attach the actual rule to the scenario.

Let's say the ball was at rest and I didn't help it to move But it's in a hazard.Duplicate the lie and place or play as is?

If you did not cause it to move, play it as it lies. As it is in a hazard, same rules apply (no grounding the club, no moving loose impediments, etc).

As long as you didn't cause the movement, play it as it lies....as with anything else...putting green, etc.

Just in case there is some confusion. If you did nothing to make it move then "play it as it lies" in this case means where it finally ended up.
