Let's do this.Since everyone has such a love for putting, and there putters, we should all get together somewhere in the center of the states, and hold a Show and Go. We could have cash prizes, as well as sponsor give aways, maybe an interance fee.(low of course). Let's see who has what it takes, and lets put all these Low and High MOI putters to the test. Lets see if the paint frillz, or tourchings will play out in the end. Let's make it a big purse to find the best of the best from this, and other forums. We should invite all the other forum guys along too, seeing that we all look at all the other forums too.(put your money where your mouth, or next Ho putter is,)

Ok, Topeka is the most central city in the united states which happens to be the capital of Kansas. The best time of year to come out here would be in June. Starting in mid july and through Aug it gets pretty hot....

That sounds about right (june that is ) let's see what everyone else has to say, but for now your city and month should work well.

After thinking about it, Kansas City will be our best bet. Anyone who would be flying in would have to get off in KC. There are a lot of hotels and it is just minutes from
Tiffany Greens if we are looking at doing this at a golf course. Any suggestions on the type of venue we would be using? PM me if you need a local to help in anyway.

Instead of the midwest, how about Las Vegas.
Cheap flights, cheap rooms, and fun distractions. A great place to stir up some side action as well.

But seriously. Las Vegas makes the most sense because of the money factor. Cheapest to and from any where in the US.

These all sound like great ideas. The regional thing sounds do-able. Ausies, we'll figure something out for you guys as well. Vegas is a great idea for the finals, and the price is right for most, to come and go. Thanks for the great turn out on this one, let's keep it going. (the more the marrier)

Technically, if this is an outttttttting, we must clear it through Snaggletooth. Afterall, he does own the internet. As for entry fee, you can bill him. He still owes me $100.
Besides, it's just not a party without Mirror-floor slapping AGSI inserts on your putter.
The contest is already over. Best putter I've ever seen was AdamMull. 6 strokes to get to the green, but he drains everything!

It's a great idea. I can't say whether or not I'd go, but just a thought for you guys. I'd have it in a city that is a major airline hub. Seems to me Dallas would be the best spot. Most major airlines seem to have direct flights to DFW.
I don't live there, but I have friends that used to live there and I went to visit a couple of times. There's tons of great golf and plenty of other stuff to do.

As a local in KC, I would also be more than willing to help. There are quite a few quality courses in this area that you don't have to take out another mortgage to play. Could also easily make it a weekend long event, possibly 36 hole tourney over a couple of courses.....

I am concerned with K.C. and its unpredictable weather. I lived there for 30 years and the weather is terrible for planning anything outdoors regardless of the time of year. It can rain everyday for 2 weeks or it could not rain for months. The wind can blow 20-25 every single day. You can never predict the weather. It is the most bi-polar weather in the entire world. The term entire world is not an exageration. The warm and freezing temps can run late into the spring killing the turf or delaying aerification schedules to the point where early June is when they can finally have the opportunity to aerify.
This is why Tom Watson was a dominate force in the British Opens, and/or any tough weather tournaments.
I would hate to see people travel into town to have questionable conditions.
On the postive side, I would love to see old friends, play the courses I grew up on, eat the worlds best BBQ and catch a Royals game.

I'm not sure where you lived in kansas but I'm 45 minutes from Topeka and about 30min from KC and I'ved lived here for about 24 years. Never have I expierienced rain for two weeks straight and the high winds, not to the extreme that you say. You make kansas sound like baron desert wasteland and thats simply not the case. Where I live and in and around the two cities mentioned above there tons of trees. I always hear how suprised out of towners are to discover how many trees there are in Kansas. You are however right about the best BBQ in the country and lets just hope the Royals do something this year.................

why don't we make it a regional event..... for examle we can do a north east region, a mid atlantic, and a southeastern regional & so on and the winner from those regions can go to the nationals. Held in the state of HI. or any other site that we all agree on. That way the travel would not be a deadly for most competitors. JMO

Lived in lawrence which is about 25-30 minutes from you.
I never claimed it was a treeless wasteland by any means. Only that it is the most Bi-Polar weather in the world. To refresh your memory it rained nearly every single day for about 2 months in 1993. one month in 1997, 2001, 2005 while not as frequent, still had some long stretches of rain. It is also hard to imagine that someone from Leavenworth can claim that the winds rarely blow. In 2002 and 2003 a huge number of courses lost their greens mid to late summer due to weather/climate issues. In the late 90's many lost fairways with freezing and thawing issues. However, fairways aren't important for a putting event. Anyone from KC can tell you that the weather, wind and turf conditions can be completely different on The National, Dub's Dread, Swope Memorial, Alvamar, or Prarie Highlands all on the same day at same time. It can could be 80 degrees in Bonner Springs and 60 degrees in Lenexa and vice versa.
I know that KC would be a convenient site for you and myself as well. But from reading some of the previous posts, it appears that some people are going to travel some impressive distances to participate and why not take the time to discuss the best options available for all the golf freaks on this board.
My overall point is that KC is unpredictable and it is crucial that multiple sites (courses) are detemined if KC is the destination. Otherwise, a different city should be considered.
