what do you guys wear in the winter that allows you to stay warm but also make a fairly fluid swing. i have tried under armor but it is designed to trap body heat of someone doing something active. right now i am just layering up but if anyone knows anything that works real well lets hear it.
thanks

Matt,
Do you walk or ride?
I wear Under Armor in the winter with a turtleneck over it a fleece vest and a short sleeve windshirt. I also wear cord pants and a fleece beenie. I have no problems with restriction on my swing. I also walk and usually have to ditch the vest sometimes.

I was thumbing through my father in-laws Golf Magazine. They had a blurb about some sleves. You could roll them on to your arms and not have any bulk of a undershirt. They looked to fit tight like underarmor. They recomended throwing a pair in the bottom of your bag and always having them there. Now I am going to have to try a pair out.

Under Armour golf thermal under wear, under armour khakis, under armour cold weather mock, under armour polo, under armour pull over wind shirt, and an under armour beanie.
Oh yea, under armour sox with cotton or wool socks over them.
I love everything under armour. Works great in the winter and summer. Wish they had this stuff when I was in school. I even have UA under shirts I wear under my dress shirts for work.
That setup is good for mid to upper 40's. Low 40's and below, not sure it doesn't really get that cold in Houston and when it does I stay inside.

I have also become a believer in the air activated hand hot hands packets.
I'm ok as long as my hands and feet are not cold. Slip your hands into a pocket with a warmer in between strokes and it makes a huge difference.

Brad

Silliness aside.......this stuff is the BEST I've ever worn as well. The Cold Gear mocks with a vest keep me very warm in 40* temps with wind. Never was an Under Armour fan 'til this stuff came out because it's a looser fit and not the skin tight version they have for other sports. It's comfortable and effective.

Nike makes some compression sleeves that looked intriguing. I would like to get a pair and throw them in the bag for those days when it is hot in the sun and cold in the shade.

I bought a set of the Nike sleeves, but I haven't had a chance to use them. Tried them on indoors and my arms did feel warm. I bought one of the Nike compression tops (not mock turtleneck) that has a big "Stay Warm" sticker on it (peels off of course) and used that for a round with a long sleeve polo and vest. It was a windy day so I threw on some tights underneath my pants and I was very warm with no restriction to my swing. I actually thought about taking off the vest a couple of times. Had an Auburn Under Armour fleece beanie as well.
You can check out the new Under Armour Base Layer stuff too. It's fitted but not the compression variety. They have three different levels with some explanations as to what conditions you should use which level. I bought a top to see what it's like but haven't had the chance to use it yet--too cold up in DC to play right now!

Played yesterday in 28* weather w/17* wind chill. I wore UA/compression mock turtle neck, a regular turtle neck under a wool sweater and a UA 1/4 zip golf pullover, A pair of cords and a Turtle fur Titleist cap. I had on the FJ wintersoft gloves and I was very warm. I walked and had the whole course to myself. Also shot a 79,which is not bad for me in any weather!

Warmest combo I have is Mizuno Thermo Breath mock under their Windlite sweater. I have used more layers in the past but this combo is far better.
I wear Medalist micro fleece longies under regular Adidas golf pants, and thick fuzzy socks under my Nike's (they don't fit under my Adidas shoes).

I played the other day in 32* temps with just a UA Cold Gear compression mock turtle and Mizuno Windlite 1/4 Zip sweater and UA All Season Fleece pants...almost every club I've ever went to will let you wear fleece pants...just not jeans. So, keep your legs warm with fleece!

I can only echo the statements of the Under Armour. The cold gear is great for the winter. I don't feel like it restricts my swing any and it does a great job of keeping me warm.

I live in the SF Bay Area, so we don't really know what cold is. But when out and it's damp, windy and around 50, I'm OK with an under amour compression base layer, standard long sleeve mock shirt and one of those Mizuno lined sweaters.
http://www.tgw.com/customer/category/produ...ATEGORY_ID=9921The crew neck version is on sale for $49.99, but they seem a little lighter.
http://www.tgw.com/customer/category/produ...ATEGORY_ID=8106Another obvious way to keep warm is to walk, don't ride. Run if you have to.

mizuno or under armour both offer great warmth... my votes for the UA but some people do find it a tad tight... in which case mizuno does a more than suffficient job... and they have nice toques too..

A shetland or lambswool sweater is incredibly effective. Old school, but works.

That's funny. The guy that plays at my course and graduated from my high school invented Under Armour. Anytime he's got prototypes he has our high school teams test them out before they go to market. Pretty much every team sport at the school wears everything under armour free of charge. Lucky Bastards!

I don't understand this post and what you're all trying to convey. I guess someone from Carlsbad shouldn't be reading any posts about Winter Wear.
