OCN is a nice range no doubt, very nice, but it's not even in my top 5 for practice facilities. To be a top notch range, you need bigger greens to hit longer irons into, not just wedges. See the practice center at Bandon for example, now that's a range.

But back on topic, it's a survey for top pro shops at ranges, OCN, like most shops at ranges/courses, does not even rate.

Whirlaway in Metheun is lousy, IMO. Stony Hill range in CT isn't a great range but they do have a nice shop and very good service.

Well Whirlaway's outside range is lousy, but the pro shop is extensive. And thats what the ranking is for.

Not surprising to find Redtail and Haggin Oaks on there.

Kudos amigo!

Good to see Fiddler's Green on the list. Back when I lived in Portland, Oregon (moved in the mid-90's), I would drive (a couple hours or so) from Portland to Eugene to buy equipment there. At the time, it was one of the few places that you could pull equipment off the rack and go out back of the store and hit good balls outside and see the ball flight (I bought my original Big Bertha there). That along with knowledgable staff made that place indispensible. That was before launch monitors. No telling what that place looks like now.

That was also when Red Tail (in Beaverton, Oregon) was just a goat track called Progress Downs....
