Hello everyone. My girlfriend is planning a trip to Florida in March. One of her close friends has a place in Venice near Sarasota. I wanted some suggestions for courses in the area. I would like some suggestions for courses that would be good for myself and also courses that would be suitable for less experienced golfers ie par 3 or not so busy so as to not upset the locals. I play to a 10 handicap roughly, so for a couple of days I would like to take off and play some "serious golf". My girlfriend and her friends however have just taken up the game and love it, however they are understandably not so skilled yet to take on a full 18 necessarily. Thats not to say they would not be up for it but I would not want to hold up other players, and its more for the fun and practice. Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

I was a professional in Sarasota. I would play the Legacy, University Park, Long Boat Key Club, or in venice you have the Venice Golf and Country Club, Herron Creek, Stoneybrook, TPC Prestancia. This should help. Send me a message for more info. You got to hit up Siesta Key for you party needs. Go to Bobby Jones Golf Course late in afternoons for golf for beginners.

Just played the brand new Sarasota National Golf club in Venice today, awesome Troon Golf experience.
The best of the bunch is in North Port just a little south of Venice, Heron Creek - 27 holes and the greens are superb. The Venetian is another great layout in the Venice area...

The Venetian is a great course to play in Venice.

Is Stoneybrook a good course? Fun? Challenging? My grandmother lives in stoneybrook during the winter and my dad cosigned the house so he is a member there. We will be visiting her in March and my dad and i will be playing at "his" country club.
