Heading back to SoCal for work, and my coworker has asked me to find some courses. Thinking of hitting a couple courses for 36 holes Sunday between LA and San Diego. Played Los Verdes last time I was in LA and it was great (but slow).

Pelican should be open. Haven't seen the face lift yet... so play it and let us know.

Ton of courses in Orange County which is between LA & San Diego Counties. Recommend: Tustin Ranch, Black Gold and Pelican Hill. Here is a link to courses in Orange County:

A nice little track along the 405 is El Dodorado in the Long Beach Area. It's a public rec course but it's the best of the recs I have played

Pelican is open, but around 300 bucks. Strawberry Farms in Irvine is good and usually not crowded on Sunday afternoons, so if you are looking to get 36 in, you might have a chance there. think it is around $125.

Just got told we could go a bit pricey on the Tuesday round (with customer), so < $300

On Sunday I'm thinking < $50

Pelican Hill and Strawberry Farms are very different, but both are excellent.

I really like Talega Golf Club ($100/round) in San Clemente and also Arrowood ($80/round) in Oceanside. Both are just a few minutes east of Interstate 5 and typically are not extremely busy.

How about the SCGA course in Murrieta? Dunno if that's within your range. I've never played there but hear it's pretty nice.

avoid black gold like the plague. i live on it, and haven't played it at all since it took me 4 hours to complete 9 holes. the management has gone downhill dramatically since it first opened....
scga isn't very scenic but it definitely requires skill to play on.

The SCGA is nothing special and would not recommend it. If you are looking for courses near the I-15 in lieu of the I-5 then check out Cross Creek in Temecula. Located in the hills of avacado groves and no houses on the course....a cool experience.

A very strong second for Arrowood in Oceanside ,my local favorite and always a challenge .If a bit of driving is OK ,Oak Quarry in riverside is the best public track in so cal IMO .

Pelican Hill is a can't miss. Only $235 a player. Best Course in Southern California, hands down.
