I was picking up an item at the house of a friend and noticed this on a rack in his garage. He bought it, a while ago, because it just looked "special". I have no idea who the maker is or what the vintage is.
The face is milled, very light marks. The back of the blade has mill marks, as well. It is very nicely shaped and the face is stamped "9 Roger". Carbon steel, as it has a fair amount of rust.
Any and all guesses and reasoning will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Guys,

LaMont. My first Guess would be a tad Moore or a Giannini. But have never seen a mallet with that full of an offset. Could be someones home made job. Can you see any kind of stamps/engraving on the sole or are they washed out?

Looks neat though...

Some added info on this one.
Hosel is goosenecked and welded. The weld has been cleaned up, but still shows, up close. The neck creates a perfectly face-balanced putter, as well.
Different aspects on this head have definitely come from some solid designs. The turned up toe, ala Softail. The gooseneck was done by Byron Morgan, Scotty Cameron, TP Mills and a host of others. I love the shape of the mallet-back.

George, I can't see any trace of stampings, anywhere other than the face stamps. I agree that it my just be someone's home-job. I'm going to let it run here and see what turns up. If it goes unidentified, it'll be a project for refinish then back to the owner. He says he may put it in the bag and game it. Crazy guy only gets in about 3 rounds a year. Maybe I'll work a trade and put it in my bag. LOL.
I'll get better pictures tomorrow and post them here.
Thanks for the looks,

I posted two better pics in that first post. The new ones have the pink background.........................it is my one of my wife's towels, not a new background I am trying out, LOL.
