Hi Guys!
I'm going down to Ocala, Florida, in a month and I'd love to play a few rounds in the sun:)
Do you have any advice? The prizelimit is about 125 bucs...
Happy New Year!

You'll be about 25-30 minutes from Gainesville, and the University of Florida golf course is nice. Not sure what the non-alumni rate is. Also, there's Golden Ocala, which has replicas of famous golf holes from Augusta and various British Open courses. Again, I have no idea how much it costs. You are also not far from World Woods in Brooksville, which is on one of the Top 100 lists. Great courses (there are two of them) and costs about $100.

Also:
World Woods Golf Club is located in brooksville. It might too far a drive but its also in the top 100 according to golf.com so it might be worth the drive.

Definitely try to play World Woods.
Take a look at Hernando Oaks. Also, Skyview at Terra Vista. I played there are few years back and it was a pretty fun course.

If you can get on Golden Ocala, do it. I played it a couple of years ago before they did a revamp. I have heard it's a private lay out now though.

Golden Ocala is 100% private, so that's a no go. There is a nice course that I played a couple of times when I worked there named: Candler Hills, which was a nice track, it has the longest par 5 in FL if I remember correctly. That would be my suggestion, not too much great golf to be played in Ocala itself....

My sister used to live in Ocala, and I got to play Golden Ocala when it was public...VERY cool place.
However, it's private as someone else said.
Your two best bets are:
El Diablo and Twisted Oaks (Fazio)
If you can drive the hour, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to World Woods (Pine Barrens)..FANTASTIC layout.
Have fun in "Slowcala"

First post. woohoo.
+1 on El Diablo. The one time I played it, it was with the doctor who owned the facility. After the round he took me to the site where he wanted to build a second 18; it was in an abandoned quarry and would have made one heck of a track. There's another course on the way to El Diablo on 200 that also looked very nice with tons of live oaks. I can't remember the name since I haven't been to Ocala in almost 9 years.

I live in Ocala. . .why the heck would you come here?
anyways, tons of golf here, but mostly cheaper places (cheap as in average public courses). I've heard good things about el diablo, and hope to play there some time. but I'm poor, and stick to our 2 cheapy muni's.

LPGA International isn't too far away I think. Great courses.
