is this possible? Why are may ask?
I simply cannot find a long putter that is 46inches 2nd hand. Most are 48, and I dont want to chop my 1st long putter just yet. Just want to find one and try them right away.

Edit.....Bobby Grace m7.5k putters are made for belly lengths. But the longest one is 45inches. Could I extend this, assuming I need it extended by 1 inch, and use this as a 'long' putter. Or would the lie angle need to be changed, as this putter would be resting on my chest rather then the belly? The bobby grace m14k are not available anymore, which are long putters.

hello pard.....

the usual lie angle of a belly putter is in the range of the standard putters.....
70* +/- 2 degrees.

most of the long putters have a lie angle as close to the max usga number of
80*.

if you tried to take a standard lie putter 9 degrees upright you run the risk of breaking
the putter or at the very least a rather unsightly modification.

there is also the weight issue to consider. the company that i am most familiar with
makes most of thier standard length putters heads weigh in the 340 gram area.
the belly putter is around 370 grams, and the long putter head over 400 grams.

if you are going to the long putter you probably will be better off with a putter
designed for that purpose....
