How many of you have, or have had, a putter that you really wanted to like, but you simply can't putt with it? I continue to try to force myself to use an Anser style putter. I really like the look and I probably have 10 different varieties currently in the house. Nevertheless, I still putt more consistently with my old Rossie II and I even have a gated stroke.

I feel the same way about my Del Mar 3.5. I did like the XG 9, but my dad liked it more. I just can't see myself getting rid of the 3.5 after trying to get one for a long time.
kitsoasis
i probably putt better with a 2ball
but i still use an anser style because i love the look so much
i guess i'm willing to sacrifice a few bad putts a round to use something im much happier with
ryegolfer
I have had that in the past. When I first got my anser, I didn't love the look... but when I really learned to putt, I fell in love with it and haven't considered any other putter since. I would go with whatever makes the putts, because that will eventually become the most attractive club in your bag.

Two Ball blade and any Mills putter I have tried. I want to like them, but I can't make them work for me.

I have this issue with a great custom putter. I tried and tried but I kept leaving putts short. Even when I thought I would get it worked out on the practice green, on the course the issue would resurface. Changed putters and the problem was resolved.

Can't count the number, but it has happened far too often. Putts well at the store, take it out and I want to love it, but it just doesn't cut the mustard.

Most have been "traded" or sold...

Absolutely...a gorgeous Mills One that I simply can't make work for me. I think it's the combination of the centershaft with the lack of Anser-ish perimeter weighting. Too beautiful to give up on, though.

For me, I love it when other people putt with my Scotty SS NP2. But I can't putt with it! Not consistently well anyway. Besides, I don't like the look of it from address. But I want to love it because I'm narcissistic and want to look good!

i really wanted to like the new ping b60 karsten series but i missed many short putts with it and went back to my odyssey and cant seem to miss as easily with it, lol so i sold it , lol

I can putt with any style of putter.

I just cannot guarantee whether I putt well or not. biggrin.gif I like an '02 styled blade putter and have moments where I putter very well with it. Then there are times I putt poorly with the same putter.

Similar story here.

I've got 8 putters in my arsenal currently. 7 of them are Anser-style (3 are Ansers and the other 4 are Newports) due to me consistently using an Anser over the years and having brainwashed myself into the notion that putter=Anser...

I kep threatening to try something different (the Pal that I also own gets an occasional airing) but always gravitate back to the old faithful shape of that Anser/Newport...

This has happened more than I care to admit. First it was a TM Sebring Sport that just looked cool, but I couldn't make anything with it so my younger brother in law has it. Then I got a Never Compromise TDP 5.2 centershaft that my other brother in law now has. I even had a Mills that was just gorgeous, but I couldn't putt with that either, so I sold it for new irons. It's back to the Ping Anser putters from now on. I've got a Karsten Anser that was fitted for me under the tree thanks to the bro with the Sebring!

I've tried to like the 2-ball blade and regular 2-ball putters but I just get hung up looking at the putter instead of the ball.

I have a SC Newport PP Slant neck that I putt great around the house with. As soon as I take it to the course, I lose all distance and direction control. I really like the look of it but just can not make a putt with it. I've tried adding lead tape, different grips but nothing seems to works. Like I said, I really like the look of it though!

Love the Anser style heads and just can't understand what the difference is with this SC putter. I putt great with the Ping BiNi.

I have a C&L on order though partytime2.gif

Its been a merry go round for years. I`ve owned 10 Camerons 3 Bettinardis among others that I wanted to like but none lasted. Some time back I had a chance to try a Rife 2 bar blade and the search was over, the feel is perfect and I putt great with it. I`m looking for the offset model now to test against the center shafted one I have..............Jim

Groan...that is all too familiar event...sadly...to be honest I can't putt with anything consistently!! black eye.gif I tried an Odyssey XG7 and I actually putt quite well with it but hated the look from address so off it went...I have a Byron that I putted very well with towards the end of the year so maybe there is hope...

Right now I just picked up a face balanced Anser style head TP Mills from a Member here and so far I like it! 10 minutes from now could be a different story! rolleyes.gif This tendency has led to creating a "putter" collection of great looking putters I just could not part with but can't putt worth a darn with!

I am the same way with the anser style putters. I want them to work so bad because I LOVE the look, but can't putt my way out a wet paper sack!

I get much better results with mallets, especially the 2-ball. I am always thinking of a beautiful custom anser long neck built to my specs. As soon as I get one, the reality of my problems rears its ugly head, and back to the 2-ball I go with my tail between my legs. I just have to admit my problem and deal with it.

OMG OMG! I just figured it out! After going through me Scotty SS NP2, a BG M6.4k-GT, a Callaway TT2 and four years, I am back at putting bliss, especially the short putts. Haven't been this confident in a long time!

I WENT BACK TO MY ODYSSEY WHITE HOT #5. By god, ryegolfer was right! Whatever putter you putt best with becomes the most beautiful putter you'll ever see! Thank you for helping me to find my putting nirvana!

Like many others, I have would probably make more putts with a mallet style, but I keep going back to the anser style. I do, use my 8802 every now and then.
Seve424
Any Bettinardi.

I love the way they look, dig the way they feel. I've had a few, including a beautiful pre-Hogan BB7, couldn't make a thing with it.

Can't putt with them. It's 3 Jack City.

Of course that wouldn't stop me from trying another.

My New Custom Mills. I love the look of it, but it's not face balanced enough for me sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif
BEND OF THE RIVER GC
Awhile back I had a few Pings that rolled GREAT in the store, but were just terrible once on the course. Of course, they were immediate evacuated out of my bag and into the coffers at the old 2nd swing! If it doesn't perform it gets replaced!

Sort-of the opposite for me. I have a Cameron/Mizuno M-100 and I putt so well with it, that I can't give it up, even though there are so many other choices out there that I would love to try!

I have a Studio 6 Prototype that's never been in play, because I don't want to jinx my M-100. Is that weird?

I am probably the odd man out....I liked and tried to putt with an Odyssey two-ball blade putter all summer long. This was after using a Yes! Callie putter for a little over a year. I have no idea what it was, but I could never just distance with ithe two-ball....I was either blowing everything well by or coming up embarrassingly short..... putts went from about 30 - 32 per round with the Callie to 36 - 38 per round witht he two-ball....I'm back with the Yes! Callie putter.

I have several Scotty's that I want to like a Custom newport 2, Del Mar 3.5, and Laguna love the way they look but can't putt consistently with them. I also make more with a mallet style putter so for over a year and a half my gamer is a Bobby Grace GT 5K with the tour grey insert in the face. I make so many putts with it but it is not pleasing to the eye. I have to learn to stop fighting the looks and stay with the putter that helps my scoring.
SwingMan
Putting is odd.

When I did not have a lot of confidence, I needed a mallet. I liked all of that mass, as if that would help me put the ball in the hole.

I forced myself to go to an Anser Style, telling myself it's not the mass, it's the stroke. It took several months to grow with it.

As I've grown in confidence, changed technique and have become more relaxed, I am going with a blade style. But I really like the Ansers.

Two styles I've liked but can't putt with it are a Coronado (ie Odyssey 9) and Pal (Brad Faxon type) type putter. I don't know why.

With picking a putter, it's whatever works.

I love a Mills One! But I cannot use a Plumbers Neck:(
