I know putter refinishing has been a major topic lately, and I've read all the threads on it, but I have my own specific question.

How does Scotty's Custom Shop compare to other services like BOS? I'm receiving a Del Mar 3.5 soon that looks like it's seen better days, and I'd like to get it refinished. I'd like to go to the CS, but the cost is many times higher than other services that I've seen. Has anyone out there used the Custom Shop AND another service so that they can compare the two? Is the quality of the work different? Customer service? Speed? Thanks in advance for the help.

Your best bet is to search around the topics here as you've already said, but here's what I know:

$145 for the custom shop covers absolutely everything. You'll get the new shaft, new headcover, new grip, loft/lie adjustments, paintfill, full face remilling, complete restoration...essentially it will be 100% new all together.

Someplace like BOS if you just want a head restoration, they do an amazing job. The head will look brand new, the finish will be great and there are many options also. If you need new face millings it will be a little more expensive. Right around $45 for the finish, $13 more if you leave the shaft on, plus shipping will get it done. $30 extra I believe for the milling. They'll take anywhere from 2-4 weeks in my experience.

If the shaft, headcover, and all those things are good and you want a cheaper route...go BOS (Putterplating, Slighter for that matter). If you want an official full restore and don't mind waiting the 45 days approximately, pay the extra and go with the Custom Shop.

Just my thoughts, PM me if you have any questions.

Unless you want a COA I would send it elsewhere. Better turnaround time and just as good finished product.

Had to look that one up, but Scotty's site says "Adjustments are included in the price of Customization and/or Restoration"
BTW that's still a sweet looking putter in your pic (excellent example of a CS finish)...too bad it's off to some other WRX member now
