Looking at a pair of Oakley Flak Jackets and just wondering what the differences are between the G30 & G30 Black Iridium?? For those who use them what do you preffere or thing best?? Also thinking of maybe the Fire Iridium lenses too.

i dont think there is such thing as a g30 black iridium. there is just g30 or black iridium. imo, the g30 is a great all around lens. not too dark, not too light. its made for situations when you need a high contrasting lens... to see the ball. imo, the black iridium can be too dark imo.

Second the G30 lenses. I have them in my Pitch frames. I dont have to talk them off at all when playing on sunny or partly sunny days.

As you can see there is a G30, and a G30 Black Iridium

G30 Black Iridium Lens: Medium light. Rose base with an IridiumŪ coating to improve contrast and reduce glare.

Looks like the regular G30 lets 5% more light through as well.

g30="excellent for golf"

i guess it depends on the weather. i wear my g30 lenses all year around. even in the bright bright sun theyre fine for me. i can even play with them on at dusk or dawn when the sun isnt as bright.

i've got G30 lenses for my Juliets and believe the Black Iridium version have a coating that is just slightly more reflective. the regular G30s really don't have any type of "mirror" look to them i.e. someone looking at you can see your eyes clearly. this would explain the 5% less light transmission and higher contrast of the BI version.

i have Black, Emerald and Gold Iridium lenses for my Juliets in addition to the G30s and find the Gold Iridiums my favorite for golf.

i know this is an older topic but, the g30 black iridium is slightly darker as stated above. i find it more useful on birghter days or for people who don't wear a hat or visor. either one will be great for golf, but the g30 black iridium will be better for brighter days or people who are more light sensitive. i own both and tend to wear the g30 black in my flak jacket more than the standard.
